It is tough to see how he’s going to get minutes though, even now. He is unfortunately playing in a position which we have very well covered at the moment.

I think he has the potential to be one of the best CBs in the world though, his potential possibly has a higher ceiling than Davinson.

Hopefully he does enough this season to convince Poch and the fans that he is the guy to step in when Toby leaves.

Doesn't look so gloomy if Toby moves on though, and if we want Foyth to stay he needs to play. As I've said numerous times before, if he was playing for Ajax he'd be getting the same rave reviews deLigt has been getting.

I thought he did very well tonight. Made a few mistakes that more seasoned players would have been slated for, but considering how little football he has played he took his chance well.

Not sure I’ve ever seen a CB make so many last ditch goal saving tackles or clearances he was unreal. For me he definitely has a higher ceiling than sanchez. He’s just a better footballer. His old coach at estundiates compared him to Beckenbauer. It’s easy to see why. The fact so many think he can play DM amplified that. But for me I think it would be a waste. He recovers lost causes as good as sanchez if not better. He has everything pace passing range calmness great tackler. Hugely exciting and he’s 20 ffs madness.

Calm down a wee bit like, he did pretty well against West Ham...dependent on the January window I think it's time for a loan for him.

Although West Ham obviously have a superior squad than us.

Everyone is excited and rightfully so. He is a dream with the ball at feet for a centre back.

However, there were times when Sanchez bailed him out defensively. He lost his man a couple of times, and it would have been a different story if Sanchez hadn't made the tackle or the clearance.

With that in mind.... They should make a hell of a centre back partnership if/when we don't have vertonghen and alderweireld anymore.

reading this thread, then finally just catching the five min highlights made me wonder what some of you lot were watching, I just saw four superb last-ditch interventions?! In none of those instances did he make an initial mistake, eg of positioning

He was immense tonight. Made two Ledley-esque challenges to prevent shots on goal when spam were clean through, and travelled with the ball beautifully to break the lines. He looked strong, quick and assured and made the over hyped Declan Rice look more like Anneka.

That Sanchez / Foyth centre half partnership could be so good in the not so distant future.

When Toby goes we should replace him with a left footed CB to understudy Jan leaving Foyth/Sanchez at RCB. Foyth probably won't get much of a look in this season but next year he should be able to start playing more.

Just imagine how good he could be if he got more than 1-3 appearances per season? With Wanyama struggling to regain his sharpness, we should really look to give Foyth some minutes as a DM.

In addition to all the accolades which I totally agree with I love that he's got the argentine trait of passing the ball on the deck. This dude glides around the pitch, nonchalantly. Toby can leave now.

He played very well today, but I still would like to keep Toby around. Its so nice to have legit depth at CB and attacking mid.

Yeh I know your right. Was just being flippant due to his supposed desire to leave and well his successor looks ready ?

The future looks bright with those 2 but I still love the Belgians. Happy we can rotate and feel good about them.

He had a very good game, and his potential is very obvious. Needs a bit more muscle though, and it was also evident that he needs playing time. He got pushed off the ball by Antonio simply because he didn't anticipate the push and failed to brace himself for it, which is stuff that he'll learn by playing games.

What are you waiting for Daniel?
Go on and give this kid a new 6-year contract extension.
