Exactly. Tuchel is a coach who looks to give players like this a platform to improve so I imagine he's tried to motivate him. Either it's failed or the club and Rabiot have fallen out. If it's mostly a Tuchel vs Rabbit thing then it would be a huge gamble as perhaps Rabiot is someone who doesn't like to listen to the coach. We can't take that on board.

I've mentioned this before but I know from someone who has worked/works with both Tuchel and Emery, that Tuchel operates with more of the 'human' side of coaching whereas Emery put more effort into analysis. I understand that Tuchel allows the players a little more freedom on certain things, if Rabiot has fallen out with Tuchel despite the more relaxed environment then that would be a concern. Despite what I've been told, I don't know the ins and outs of the Rabiot situation though.
It is often the case that when the relationship with the club breaks down a new manager can't repare it, a player may have made a decision so it's not a matter of convincing him to stay its about changing his mind completely, once you've left a job mentally it's hard to go back.

That's very true. And thinking about it wasn't there some quotes from Tuchel stating that it was the club's decision to take him out of the first team training?

Anyway, until JJ gives us an update stating things have changed then I'll believe. I do remember JJ was adamant that Toby wasn't coming but then something dramatically changed and it was on.

Definitely available, PSG want shot of him and have proven to have a decent working relationship with us in the past.
Rabiot’s preferred options are rapidly disappearing, so he will be left with a choice, mend his bridges at PSG or take an option he previously rejected. Seems to me he’s more likely to do the latter, and the ego bashing he’ll have taken as his preferred clubs looked elsewhere may just settle him down.
We all know we’ve been watching him for some time, we must’ve done our due diligence about his attitude, especially having ex PSG and French teammates onboard. I think our persistence will pay off and there will be a late swing from the ITK as the situation changes quite quickly, this will be a late window deal. CL squad may have to be juggled, but he could take Dembele’s non HG PL squad place.

Rabiot is fast running out of options. He's been forced to train away from the 1st team, and his dream move to Barca has fallen through with their purchase of De Jong. I can't see any other teams linked, so either he writes off the next 6 months and goes on a free or he makes a choice to get 1st team football with us.

As Herc said, it seems as though he's badly advised, as surely from a football perspective it makes sense to make a move sooner rather than later. He will get a decent wage with us, it's not like he's joining the Tottenham from a few years ago where we wouldn't go above £100k per week.

It does fit with the way we have to do things, we can't get the ones we want early on as they are also of interest to the big money clubs so we hold our nerve and wait rather than go for anyone else. at this stage things become clearer, we can't get de Ligt because Barca want him but maybe they now drop any interest in Rabiot and we become serious players.
On that basis the latest scenario is perfectly logical.

Equally, he could realistically be a world class midfielder in the next three years if he allows Poch and the team to help him evolve. Nothing like long term planing to settle a flitty mind

I know I shouldn’t do this to myself but the idea of him and Dele developing in the same team over the next couple of seasons is scintillating

Anyone who isn't openly desperate to sign Rabiot doesn't want to temp fate. He is fucking class and plays the position we desperately need someone in since Dembele physically died a couple of seasons ago.

Get Rabiot, keep Rose and either get Aurier playing properly or a new RB for next season and we are laughing. If we then get a quality CF backup and keep Toby and Eriksen we are the strongest we've ever been. Not asking for much :)

Lloris

RB Toby Jan Rose

Rabiot Sissoko/Winks

Son. Alli. Eriksen

Kane

Bench of made up of: Aurier, Davies, Gaz, Lamela, New CF, Sanchez, Moura, Sissoko/Winks, Dier, Foyth, Trippier, Skipp

Yes please

Add another CM monster whilst Winks continues to develop and we'll win the world cup, champions League, Scottish premiership and tour de france

He's probably the best we can hope to get qualitywise in this window (and in the summer for that matter) but i fear his attitude might be a problem like some others on here. I can Imagine he (and his mum) will stir up things in a few years time when they see the oppurtunity to join one of the 'elite clubs'.

I would be lying if i said this signing didn't make me excited though - seems like a great player.

Sorry to piss on your parade but I'm pretty sure Sky bet have installed Liverpool as favourites for the tour de France title.

But yeah, I'm coming round to the idea of Rabiot. No doubting his ability, temperament...who knows, but you'd think if he was a right curly topped twat, that we'd get our initial dollar back in any case.

Know him personally? Or again are you simply guessing because of a few online stories.... so boring. Aurier was deemed to be a nightmare by many and he’s been absolutely fine and a good character in the dressing room.

Obviously I don’t know him which is why I said ‘appears to be’.

If this was to happen the final decision would be down to Poch (Naively, I like to think so ). I would imagine, like Aurier or any player we sign, Poch will sit down with him face to face and explain what he wants and determine whether they are up for the challenge. It be his call.

On an unrelated-but-maybe-slightly-related note, since we’re all discussing Rabiot’s character, thought I’d share this from the fundraising page for the search for Emiliano Sala.

Definitely worth the risk. An absolute perfect fit for our team, in the main position we need to strengthen. I would be chuffed to bits if we got him over the line.
