Interestingly it remains possible for us to match the record for most wins in a Premier League season...

And still not win the league.
Read somewhere the other day that we had already achieve our win total for the Leicester season. Another benchmark surpassed.

That is quite incredible with 13 matches still left to go. It also puts into perspective how far we have progressed when you consider during the 90s and the early to mid 2000s anything more than 13 or 14 wins was unusual.

We don’t even have to go that far back. We are a different propersition from the team we had with Harry and Bale in 2010. 21 wins in 38 compared to 19 in 25 this season. We’ve seen nothing like this consistency in many decades.

It really is a special team to watch right now.

I've had my eye out for a stat for a while now and it got to the point where I thought 'sod it, i'll do the ground work myself'.

We've been there or thereabouts for a few years while never really being taken seriously for more than a few games. Probably because we've only actually been top for a few hours. Some have peaked and fallen again, we've been leapfrogged a few times. But always consistent. How many years did I dream of just being that? It may or may not come as a surprise that once again, we don't even top this table.

Premier League points since the start of the 'Leicester Season', aka: When Spurs caught up in this title race stuff.

1. Man City 303pts
2. Spurs 290pts
3. Liverpool 273pts
4. Man United 264pts
5. Chelsea 263pts
6. Arsenal 256pts

For now we continue to build. But for a team who recently dreamed of 4th, we are more than living the dream.

Excuse the very Irish Republican end to this thread, but 'Tiocfaidh ár lá'. Our day will come.

Be interesting to see the net spend by each of those clubs divided by the number of points.
I bet our PPM (points per millions) put us top by a country mile.

Again, I think this has become too much of a distraction. Obsession with spending money, to the detriment of scouting, spending wisely, nurturing and coaching well has left people looking down their noses at what we have achieved and are achieving.

4000 days without a trophy today my Arsenal supporting mate couldn't wait to inform me :shifty:

'4000 days' definitely beats their paltry 3667 days without a trophy between May 1979 and May 1989 ...
..
But they did have another "GAP" !

They won fuck all between May 1953 and May 1971 a small matter of approximately 6,570 days (and NO the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup does not count as it isn't recognised by UEFA).

Spurs managed 1 First Division Title, 3 FA Cup wins* a European Cup Winners Cup and a League Cup during their "big sleep"

*1961 was of course the first 20th century double.

And this is the reason we haven’t been able to enjoy our improvement. Listening to other people put the boot in with random sentences containing the words ‘legends’, ‘trophies’, ‘pressure’ and ‘DVD’. All designed to keep us in our place. But although we haven’t reached our destination, we’ve left that place. I’m not in this game to please opposition fans, or even our own. My love is Spurs.
I think this has overtaken Berbatov's "hair like snake hair" as my favourite post on SC. Good job. (y)
