I reckon that Jan will score a blinder, having been inspired by Kompany's wonder strike. You heard it here first....

As much as I have been unimpressed with Tripps this season, we're not gonna get away with square pegs in round holes forever.

Yes Foyth has done well in that position once or twice but it's only a matter of time before experiments like that and Rose anywhere other than LB/LWB cost us.

Cost us? Bit late for that.

I'm not sure that red on Saturday is indictive of the way he plays generally tbh.

No, but there is an unpredictable element to his game, moreover his decision making whilst learning the game.

I think its too much of a risk for the biggest game of our season

2 penalties against Wolves and a red card after 2 minutes against Bournemouth.
He's a risk we can't afford to take.

I might consider a fluid front 4 of Eriksen, Dele, Lamela & Son. That group worked very well vs Chelsea away last season.

Foyth is a difficult one. He was very good at RB against City and handled Sterling far better at the Etihad than Trippier did at WHL. His crossing isn't bad, which is precisely what Trippier's is at the moment. And while Foyth is more than capable of doing something stupid, one could argue that the one game he is likely to avoid that, would be the game after the one where he displayed the utmost stupidity to date. I can only speak from personal experience, but I find my own stupidity goes in swings and roundabouts :)

Sanchez is out. How many more blasted injuries?!
Is that confirmed? There goes the cunning plan to surprise them with a back 3. More seriously though, I was secretly hoping we would see Jan at LB.

Sky is reporting it as a definite. More cunning would have been Verts at right back. Anyone but Trippier.

His crossing is incredibly wasteful, though, that's my point. He goes outside more often than not and nothing comes of it. Davies is more likely to play little balls inside, and with Son and Lucas up front, it seems like a more useful tactic in some ways.

Anyway, I'm sure Rose will start. Let's hope he has a worldie.

Danny is the quite easily the most widely overrated player in the first team IMO.

Currently 4/1 for Ajax to get a penalty. I can see those shortening if he starts.
I completely agree. Lamela is back too. Both perfectly capable of providing healthy competition to Foyth in the rashness stakes....

Perhaps what happened against Bournemouth might really be a blessing. Tomorrow will be intense and just the sort of occasion where some of our players might be a little rash. European refs are generally less forgiving anyway, so maybe coming off a game where we were reduced to 9 might just help calm them down. Plus, Son is that little bit more rested :)
