For me this signing would be more than just Welcoming back a special player:

1) Statement of intent that Spurs can attract a world class player.
2) Commercially it will put Spurs on a new level for a breath of revenue opportunity
3) Global Brand Awareness will grow
4) It would show our ambition to the current team and potential signings. We are moving forward and joining the Big Stage.

I wouldn't want to sign Bale if it meant we don't go for Brooks. I'd love both tbh.

And I'll leave the problem of what to do with our existing players to the manager.

Kane / Gomez
Son / Dele / Sessegnon
Lo Celso / Lamela
Bale / Moura / Brooks

Too much?

Probably 2 more than we could realistically hope for. I'd say it'd be either/or on Lo Celso/Brooks and Bale/Gomez. That's still 8 for 4 positions in. Maybe we could add another youngster like Jack Clarke for depth.

Well for me in your list, I would move Lamela on and you wouldn't need gomez as Bale would be the second/back up to kane up front.

Interesting that Hercules thinks the Bale financials are do-able for us. I guess signing a world class player like Bale would help the commercial figures and as we're still looking for a stadium sponsor....

Perhaps he looks disinterested because of the way he has been treated by fans, manager and the club?
Yes, yes I don’t disagree with the way they treat some players but why have they turned on him. The guy gets paid an absolute fortune he should go on that pitch and run his socks off. Every game, the guy was just drifting through games and making no effort. The fans have a right to question the effort that one of the highest paid footballers on the planet is putting in. Just saying there is always 2 sides to everything.

With the right attitude and the right price, Bale could be a formidable acquisition. A combination of Kane, Sonny, Bale, and Moura could break down teams that play open defensively or those that park the bus. That would translate to quite a few more wins in the upcoming season. And if he is hungry to prove RM wrong, then it could be even scarier. With that said, the biggest concern has to be his availability. While his injury level is not as bad as some believe (but certainly far from perfect) you have to wonder how he would handle Poch's heavy training load. And if we go back to a high press game, could he do that for 90 minutes. The English climate may make it easier but there are questions marks.

Means fuck all . Players sign new deals all the time. There clubs can then demand bigger transfer fees.

Well it does mean something if you're then saying clubs can demand more fees which we aren't going to pay for brooks

!. A statement we are clinging to the past.
2. Bale is an Adidas player, he is nowhere near as commercially appealing for us and Nike as Kane, Lloris or Eriksen, he's not a big deal for AIA either as he's neither a paragon of health, attractive or Asian.
3. See number 2. Welsh brand awareness perhaps.
4. See number 1.

Lets not pretend he's Neymar and NIke are going to give us sexy THFC x Jordan away kit like PSG.

Lets also not pretend he's Cristiano and he's going to shift 500,000 shirts in his first 24 hours

Whilst I love Lloris and Kane, it's surprising you think they are bigger than Bale in commercial appeal right now. Dele and Son featured in a big Adidas Campaign last year FYI. I appreciate we have a stronger commerical relationship with Nike, but I don't really understand your argument to be honest.

He would raise our profile and generate extended commerical opportunities. He would sell more shirts to our international fanbase.
