Wouldn't be a proper transfer window without a link to Bale 😊

The Sun article on Bale

Real Madrid star Bale offered Tottenham return in staggering £10million LOAN move to escape Bernabeu boos

Spanish giants are desperate to offload the £600,000-a-week forward as Zinedine Zidane wants him out the squad.

GARETH BALE has been offered a Tottenham return — in a £10million LOAN.

Real Madrid are desperate to offload the winger as manager Zinedine Zidane wants him out of his squad.

The Spanish giants are willing to take a huge hit on Bale’s wages too, with the season-long deal covering just half his pay.

Spurs’ transfer committee are discussing the possibility of a loan but have ruled out a permanent deal for their former superstar.

He gets north of £600,000 a week at Real but would have to accept less than half elsewhere.

Real will take an offer where a club pays around £250,000 a week for Bale’s wages PLUS a £10m fee for a season.

Bale, 29, is public enemy No 1 in Madrid, with Bernabeu fans booing him when he has played this season.

And almost 90 per cent of them voted for him to be sold this summer.

Spurs fans would have a different reaction to Bale, he left a hero for Real in a then-world-record £86m sale in 2013.

French giants Lyon are also keen in a Bale loan but, again, it is a question of financing a deal.

Boss Zidane is willing to dump Bale — who has won four Champions Leagues with Real — into the Under-23s rather than let him train with the first team, having left him out of the senior squad for Los Blancos’ last two matches.

Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett still claims his player wants to stay and “see out” his contract.

A loan deal would work well for all though. We could see if he’s fit and could still hack a 50 game season. Bale could rebuild a reputation. We could insist on a buy clause if all works. Real likely to pay a chunk of the wages. And if he was injured he’d go back to Madrid anyway
Poch could simply decide if he would add value to the dressing room or if he’d be a Pogbaesque pain.

Seems nailed on for United.

They’ve been courting him for years and can’t see why they’d suddenly not want him anymore.

Pretty symptomatic of why they’re not good anymore as they’re far more concerned about the headline rather than the actual player.

£23m (£13m on wages + £10m fee) seems somewhat steep for a year-long loan.

Also, who gets dropped to make way for Bale, because he'd have to be a 'starter' with that sort of out-lay.

Assuming, and that's a big assumption, Bale was fit, motivated and in form, I would personally deal at the £15m mark for a year-long loan.

There is some merit to this transfer, but the financials and other factors have to be right.

But a front three of Son, Kane, and Bale.... just wow! He’d benefit from being run into the ground by Poch and repatriated into a strong team environment.

No brainer, best player at Spurs for years went for a world record transfer, he takes us to a different level.

If he started 20 games and came on in another 20 (we're playing nearly 60 this season) he'd be a revelation.

Hopefully this is what Poch means by a new plan.

Depends where we see next season....if we sign a couple of key players and think we can have a real shot at the league then I'd be all for this

I think it would be a backward step. We should be buying young players who we can improve and who want to develop
While I agree on his day Bale is a match winner, his injury record has certainly improved and it would just be a massive boost for the players and club.

Player has a say too. Can't rub Zidane's nose in it by playing in the Europa. Would he want to join a rebuilding Utd playing under OGS? If our interest is real I think he'd choose us over Utd. Utd could offer more money but what if he refuses. Depends how badly Real are willing to get him out, and it seems they are desperate.

Would be a great signing imo. Has been wasted at Madrid.

Like others have said I think there’d be competition from United. But they are a bit of a basket case at the moment and they already have Sanchez on massive wages.

Hypothetically, if Real Madrid offered a straight swap for Eriksen and both players wanted it to happen, would you swap Bale for Eriksen?
