In those last 8 years I've watched us spend £90m in one summer, which resulted in us having 3 managers in 12 months and finishing 6th & also spend 0 money & bring in 0 players and make top 4 and reach a champions league final.

Of course there is correlation between spending & league positions over time, but your opinion totally ignores the reality of this Spurs side under Poch.

You mention signings as that's clear objective increase in squads ability (in theory).

My point is there are the less clear ways in which Spurs can improve, which you can't cite until they've happened, but Pochettino has shown again and again what he can get so much out of the squad.

I agree but on a few occasions over the last few seasons our lack of squad depth has cost us. Even if we don't buy automatic first team players we should have brought in a few players to give us more depth and allow us to rest players as well as providing more options. Training plus the league matches, good runs in 2 domestic cups and Champions league will leave any team exhausted without squad rotation.

This is not listed as a Sun exclusive and I've not seen others say he is at the ground today so much as was given a tour post international duty and pre vacation? So I think someone has their wires crossed on the story here.

Maybe, but then The Sun can be uncharacteristically accurate with their Spurs stories. Hopefully this one is one the money.

Medical maybe? I know they used to be done elsewhere but with the shiny new facilities, it could be possible maybe?

Normally the ones they are on the money (or near enough) are tagged exclusives. This was written by one of the rumor roundup writers who do 10+ stories a day rather than an Exclusive writer. I am less skeptical of The Sun than most (and probably less than I should be) because of their weirdly accurate track record with us but this one I think apply all the salt too.

The sun is being uncharacteristically pointed, usually if the writer wasn’t sure the article would be caveated but it’s being quite specific. I’m not saying that necessarily validates it but it makes it far easier to believe when the article says ‘he is at Spurs training ground’ instead of ‘we understand from our sources that he is at Spurs training ground’.

So nervous about this deal. I've wanted to sign him for ages and he is such a top talent I just never accepted we may actually pull it off.

I can't relax until its official, keeping everything crossed!

You guys do realise his surname is three syllables, not four, right?

As in, it’s not pronounced “en-dom-bell-ay”?

Be so happy if we get him!

We so badly need another quality central midfielder, hopefully then can push hard for Lo Celso next as competitive or replacement for Eriksen.

I know lots of people have said right back is important but I think midfield is really where we need to shore up as was very thin there last season when we were pushing on all fronts.

I’m working on the surname before I break the news that his first name is pronounced “Ton-Gee”
Funny, my three years of secondary school level French stuck with me for Tanguy, but not Ndombele. Is the ‘N’ silent basically?

Edit: it’s Nn-Dom-bell isn’t it?
