Did anyone else win a free iPhone off SC? That website it takes you too looks totally legit. Definitely going to give them my personal information...

Tbh I’ve been getting security alerts off SC for ages that’s why I don’t visit there any more......

We are much stronger when we have dynamic players, Kane (whilst seemingly a CF) fits in so well as he is so dynamic he can do everything. The minute we replace him with another CF everything is less fluent.

I'd make the case for another WF to back up Son and Lucas but I have a feeling we will use more midfielders and attacking midfielders going forward
Agree with that. If we were to fail to get Lo Celso (who looks fantastic but through the middle) or if Eriksen does go then I'd rather see us get another devastating Winger/WF. Not inconceivable to have both Son and Moura unavailable at the same time and without them we lack pace. Liverpool and Citeh basically have 4 each and can rotate and cover injuries far more easily

It's all gone quiet on Federico Chiesa (we were very tenuously linked back in March) but he looks absolutely fantastic. You would think we could prise him away for €40-50m given our new level of attractiveness

(Yes he is indeed the son of 1990s Italian international winger Enrico Chiesa)

EDIT: I just googled news about him and they are saying that he wants to go to Juve and on 2 Jul scored a Bergkamp-esque goal against Spain for Italy U21s

Eriksen was run into the ground last season because Lamela was never fit. Don't see any reason to believe that his continual injury issues are suddenly going to disappear and make him a reliable contributor next season.

Yeah, like I said that is the problem. I was just pointing out that skill set wise they’re not miles apart.

His injury record seems to be injury ridden season followed by relatively injury free season then back to injury ridden. Using this profoundly flawed logic I’m predicting Lamela has a relatively injury free season this year.

Tbf, his injury record prior to him signing a new deal wasn’t great but we obviously didn’t offer him a contract assuming he’s going to be injured the whole time. I appreciate some players are more injury prone than others but you can’t sign a player on the assumption that an existing player will definitely be injured for most of the season either.

I think that if you want to operate with a small squad like Poch does, then you really can't afford any passengers. Lamela's a good player with lots of great qualities, but for my money, he still gets a tick in the 'passenger' column, unfortunately.

Then we should be selling him, surely?

Honestly, as much as I love Lamela's attitude, work rate and love of shithouse-ery, even when fully fit I'm still not convinced of his merits as an attacking player. When fit, he's great in the press and he works his bollocks off for the team, but I don't think he hurts the opposition enough attacking-wise when he has the ball at his feet.

I dunno, tbh. They’re different but fully fit I think he’s a great contributor.

I love Lamela at his best and he brings fear and uncertainty to the opposition. I’d say that he’s worth another season to see if he can stay fitter. A fit Lamela is a great addition to our squad.
Last season though because he is also an uncertainty to us as he is.

They are attacking players and to be honest Lamela has underperformed where goals are concerned since he arrived... Dele also been below his level last two seasons..
Just because they’re attacking players doesn’t mean that they’re able to play striker

If we do get Lo Celso, between him, Son, Lucas, Dele and Lamela we have more than enough to cover Kane too.
I think we're lacking another inside forward. There isn't much pace if Kane is out and Son has to go upfront. Lucas would be the only forward option. Another number 9 and you have a Llorente/Janssen problem, it just hasn't worked for them.

I think if we end up with Kane, Dele, Lo Celso, Lamela, Son, Lucas contesting the front three spots, with Winks, Ndombele, Dier, Wanyama, Sissoko and Ceballos contesting the middle three, we have a fair bit of depth.

Either way, if Eriksen’s leaves then two in, if he doesn’t then 1 in, is how I would hope it plays out.

Make that 2 spots, none of them will compete with Kane for striker imo

Lo Celso dele and Lamela aren’t strikers

When Kane was injured last year Lamela was a great false 9.

EDIT: for those who found this funny I can only assume you didn’t watch every game - if you get the chance go and watch our 3-1 win away at Stamford Bridge (the game Kane made his return from injury when we were 2-0 up).

You get the point I’m making. It’s six good players for three positions, it’s good depth, the world isn’t ending.

Of course none of this accounts for the potential addition of sessegnon who would give us even stronger options.
