Can we not swap eriksen with dybala?

I don't think Juve are interested, don't think anyone is interested. He hasn't helped his cause with his lacklustre performances in pre season so far. He is holding the cards, will probably run down his contract. He does'nt have to leave if he do'nt want to.

The little comment about replacing Llorente... I rather thought that between Kane, Son and Moura (and maybe Parrott) we were covered up front. I can’t imagine anything other than Dybala or bringing Llorente back - but we do sometimes get deals from nowhere. How much notice was there over Son?

I thought we were going with what we had too, albeit had we got Dybala, his ability to play AM and forward could have added the extra depth we may want. Seems both us and United want Fernandes and Dybala, assuming neither club wants both, or has that prompted our move.
If Dybala’s not coming, and we are infact looking to replace Llorente with an additional signing, I’d expect that to be a younger option rather than a experienced player/big name. Maybe one of the projects some ITK have suggested would be happening in the background. Reading back to update 33 and 39, Herc talks about a hugely talented young player that we were trying hard for, but against a lot of other interest, then I’m sure the was a follow saying we’d missed out. Wondering now if that was Thiago Almada who City thought they had but have now pulled out of the race to sign him.

If we also end up with Sessegnon and any two from three out of Lo Celso, Fernandes and Eriksen (new deal), this should only be seen as a very good window. I’m sure the Poch rant was no more than a nudge to Levy. Who else of us hasn’t had to remind their boss of their worth from time to time.

CE heart is not here. Get rid!
Given Eriksen publicly stated to both club and fans that he wanted new challenges this isn’t exactly new info. So why the aggro?

Saying “Get rid” of a player who has politely asked for the club to do exactly that seems a bit odd?

Imo (and only opinion) he's waiting to see who else we bring in, be funny if that's what he's holding off for and one of them is his replacement.

Not convinced Eriksen holding off signing a contract is down to him waiting to see who we sign. This smacks of Madrid telling him to hold fire on signing a new contract as he is still a possibility for them and they will low ball Levy just before their window ends on the 31st of August. If in and around the 31st of August Madrid come in with a £60m or so bid, what does Levy do? Knowing full well the player wants Madrid and in January can sign a pre-contract with them and go on a free?

I suspect Madrid are still working on a deal for Pogba but that is an extremely complicated one. If it does somehow happen, I wouldn't be surprised to see Madrid drop interest in Eriksen and him sign a contract with us, however as long as there is a small chance of them coming in for him in the next month, I see him holding off signing a contract. Only signs it once it's clear Madrid have moved on/got their primary target and don't think that is the case yet.

You're mad if you think Eriksen will go on a free. I believe Levy won't let that happen.
Eriksen has basically been our best player throughout his tenure here barring Kane from 2013-19. Him leaving on a free when there has been a potential to rack up almost 100m for him at some point will be seen as a horrible failure under Levy's reputation - he won't want that.

These attempts to make Eriksen appear the “bad guy” are pretty fucking desperate imo. If he signs he “Zaha’s” himself out of the move he wants and has always openly honestly stated he wants. Why on earth would he sign such a deal? But, yes, he would verbally agree terms should no move happen. That all makes sense from his perspective and any non-insanely frothy Spurs fan perspective.

He, like Toby, has been utterly professional in their training and application and work rate on field. Any suggestion otherwise is just complete fucking nonsense. He is not and never has been the “bad guy” in all of this and it reflects awfully on Spurs that some want to make it appear that way for PR purposes.

He’s asked for new challenges- it’s up to us to either find the buyer or convince him new challenges are with us. Either way he has not done a thing wrong by us as fans - so far. Using him as a scapegoat for not having invested in Lo Celso or BF is just a bit pathetic

Madrid won’t low ball with a £60m bid, it would be far lower than that, especially considering they can sign him for free in 6 months time. If anyone came in with a £60m bid I think we’d bite their hand off.

Anyway, I think Levy will deliver this summer, even he knows we can’t be left short if a bid comes in for Eriksen. The ITK seems to indicate this..

if we sign GLC and BF, i wouldn't mind Eriksen going for around 30m. Some is better than none.
If we sign lo Casio he can go for free with my blessing. I truly believe he'll win us the league.

£60m was just an example but imo could be anything between £40-60m. May even be lower as not convinced he is someone they will go all out to get. You never know with Madrid. Always feel, unless it's a genuine world class galactico type player they are dead set on, they can move on quite easily from a player they may have some interest in and end up chasing the next fashionable player.

It's quite possible they have some interest in Eriksen now and come January they drop all interest and start chasing someone else, even if they can sign him on a pre-contract.

that's true, but if he doesn't sign it, and we get bother Fernandez and GLC. he might not be included in either squad, so will be playing with the U23's. I've been worried that he hadn't committed when we heard he would, then the same weekend Asensio was injured

It should almost go without saying that they will have done their absolute best to keep him at the club. I expect it's an expression of defeat.

I think this is exactly why Levy needs to be on the front foot this week and secure both Fernandes and GLC. That way, when/if Madrid come calling, which I expect they will, we can sell him for a reasonable fee and we aren't left short of cover. If they don't come calling, we may be stacked for players in those positions for one season, but next summer Eriksen will either be leaving on a free, which in that case we'd need Fernandes and GLC anyway, or if Eriksen decides to sign a new contract because Madrid don't come in for him, we can look to shift another player out next summer.

Either way, it is imperative we bring in two players this week for that position. We cannot afford to only sign one of them, and then we lose Eriksen to Madrid, we would be absolutely screwed, but I fear this is the most likely scenario.

Let's hope Levy shows some ambition.

Yeah, it's great to lose Eriksen on the cheap because he's such a lovely guy. Whoop! Not for this thread though. I still hope he stays but I suspect you're fishing anyway.
