Ha! It's a bit tongue in cheek, but it was the same problem in the league last year. He had the convenient excuse that we had no new players or players coming back from the World Cup, but the truth is playing a diamond cost us more points than anything else last year.
I remember you banging the no diamond drum all last season and I think it will continue for some time but I 100% agree.

Loved that Ndombele wasn’t happy with one straight away despite scoring on his home debut, great mentality.

Well the win was much needed but you saw visibly how that first goal changed our approach and in particular Ndombele who looked like he had the shackles lifted and looked a different animal out there - one who will be a massive player for us.

It also once again highlighted the absolute importance of having an Eriksen in your side - I implore us to keep him after losing out on Dybala because he will be a crucial cog in the wheel.

Overall i'm still firmly in the camp of ditch the diamond but individual brilliance sealed the deal here coupled with Aston Villa running out of puff.

Winning start, 3 points, bring on City!

Really doesn't seem like 7 years since VDV played for us. He was great, and loved a goal against the scum.

Classic Lamela for kane's first. Wins it with a good tackle and then attempts the most mind blowingly shit shot in history, which is so bad it ricochets to H

Out of interest, what did Eriksen do? I just thought we changed our shape, pushed harder and Aston Villa's energy levels fell. Or are people on the wind up?
Seriously! Appreciate your opinion but mine was the team got a lift, N'Dombele and Eriksen together were amazing. By the way before Eriksen 0-1 after 3-1!

For me I would play Winks and Ndombele in the midfield two, not 8n a daft diamond.

Both are far superior players to Sissoko (not that I’m knocking Sissoko but if one of the three have to be dropped it would be him).

It was the formation not Winks to blame.

All last season whenever we played that damn diamond we were poor, it worried me when I saw it for this game, it just needs to be BINNED!
just play 2 out the 3 of them, in a 4231, can rotate to keep them fresh as they have to cover a lot of ground. all can play when it the right shape, sissoko created the 3rd goal today and was made to look a lot worse than he is today by us totally dominating but him playing in a position where he doesn't have the tools.

I think it's a mixture. But Eriksen was popping up all over the place and he was moving the ball much quicker

I advocated signing Grealish in the summer, said he could have an impact for us... lovely assist for Harry’s goal.

Sissoko back to his best last 15 mins

Sissoko doesnt have any purpose when we are camped in the opponents final 3rd.

He is a destroyer and brilliant at driving with the ball into space when games are stretched. when the game is not stretched and is tight his lack of technical skill is exposed.

Ok might just be stupid (or drunk), but what assists did Eriksen do? Yea our tempo changed abit when he come on but Le Celco would bring the same no?

I’d rather see Eriksen stay and run down his contract than sell him now . Another season of him and Lo Celso and Ndombele can be bedded in and hopefully ready to be the main men for next season. At the end of the day we paid 11m for him and he will have been with us for 6 years . I don’t see how anyone could complain if that happens.
