I had a business meeting in town today with a guy that I have done business with over a number of years.
Anyway we are both involved in property and after our meeting we started discussing the industry in general and Paul Kemsley's and Daniel Levy's names came up as Rock Investments was mentioned.
To cut a long story short although I have known this guy for years I never knew he was a massive Spurs fan. As we talked it turns out that he knows daniel Levy and has done for years, he also knows another member of the board at Spurs whose name I can't remember. Anyway he has some contacts within the club that he talks to and although he rarely speaks to Levy these days he is certainly pretty well connected and he told me some interesting stuff.
Levy has never been interested in football and only bought the club to make money, i.e. there was no emotional purchase behind the club despite Jou Louis being apparently a big Spurs fan. In fact Louis is only interested in returns and has no emotion in whether we win or lose. He also told me that they would definitely sell out if they got a high enough offer.
Next point is apparently Levy has 2 sons, one of whom is a massive fan of you know who.................that's right, Arsenal.
The next point may interest a few of the people who seem to despise him on this site but the board member with the ambition to drive the club forward and win trophies and have some footballing glory is in fact Kemsley who is apparently a massive fan and totally loves the club. But as reported Kemsley does genuinely think that Jol is crap and has been trying to persuade Levy to get rid of him for 18 months. Kemsley did as was mooted try to get in Harry Redknapp along with Jamie in january and the deal was only halted by Levy saying no as he feared a fans revolt at removing the popular Jol for Redknapp.
He went on to tell me that nobody and he did say nobody on the board rates Jol and they haven't for ages and if it wasn't for the crowd he would have gone a good while back. However they are really stuck now as they can't find anybody of a good enough calibre to replace him with. I asked about Klinsmann and he told me that they felt he would be too much of a risk because of his lack of club experience.
He also said that he didn't really understand what was going on with Comolli and why he was there. But explained that the reason we appointed Arnesen and then Comolli is because Sugar (who is a mate of levy) told Levy when he took over that he should definitely appoint a board member between himself and the manager and this was due to problems between Sugar and Graham.
But the most interesting for me was he really painted a different picture of kemsley than is perceived by the Spurs public. Hestressed that he would be a brilliant chairman and the most outspoken in the league and would do anything in his power to make Spurs successful. He is also apparently really popular in the world that he mixes in and is best friends with not just Mike Ashley but also Phillip Green. He told me he didn't know but felt it was possible that Kemsley would come back with a consortium to buy the club.
The above maybe of interest and for some it may not. For some people they might feel they know all of the above already, but I thought that i would share anyway.
