Very true but strange it's happening with Spurs and the much derided Daniel Levy when many clubs are facing financial losses over the pandemic
Almost ironic, in the midst of an economic crash he starts throwing money around ?

although if rumours were true, we’ve had money to spend, just that previous management didn’t want to bring anyone in

Hope Jose has found an answer to our back up problems, scoring in PL will be a big step up from scoring in Portugal, did Jan put in good word for us at Benfica ?

We also already have one Benfica player in our squad... that probably helps too

This window is made for Levy. This sort of deal would not have been there a year ago. It reminds me of when I was young and discovered buy now pay later for the first time. I feel a little for Poch, he must wonder what would have been for him if this window happened last year. Whether he would have been as decisive about the targets is another matter though. The key is that CV seems to be Jose's number one which means he set himself a realistic striker target and not Dybala.

Catching up on this thread this morning and we’re signing a player who’s a cross between:

Drogba
Berbatov
Adriano
Jiminez
Gary Doherty
Jesus

Right ... got it :ROFLMAO:(y) anyone else?

It does seem as though much of the failings of previous windows was on Poch. It makes little sense to not have backed Poch when we were challenging for different trophies, but to back Jose now.

I have to tip my hat to Levy this time - the investment during a time of crisis is counter to everything we've previously known about the guy - this sort of investment in the team is ALL anybody has ever asked of him, so credit where it's due in these times.

Only concern is that the last time we invested like this, we seemed to rely on largely the same players for the following 7 years, just bringing in punts and squad filler in that period. Son was the only real standout buy in that time. I hope things will be different going forward, but now we've begun to refresh the team in the correct manner I hope incremental improvements can be made in each window going forwards.

I finally feel like we have a team worthy of the top 6, and transfers like Bergwijn are very promising as an indication of intent.

Everything points to Levy finally backing his man.

(I'm even enjoying the football on display).

Dan KP: Tottenham set to complete Carlos Vinicius loan transfer with £40m option to buy

Come on DKP, we’ve already gone over £50m or did you forget shoot Højbjerg:

His arrival would take Tottenham's summer spending well beyond £50m after the captures of Matt Doherty for £15m, Sergio Reguilon for £27.5m and Gareth Bale, whose season-long loan will cost roughly £10m in wages.

You do know that apart from last season where there were mitigating circumstances so ended up 6th, we have been top four for the previous 4 years or so. Now we have a really upgraded squad and you still think us worthy of 6th.....:cautious:

That's what's worrying, not sure Gedson is PL quality for us challenging as a top team so how good are Benfica players.

Big difference between Gedson & Vinicius.

i) Gedson wasn't even their best player - But Vinicius certainly was their best forward last season and joint league top scorer
ii) Unlike Gedson, top clubs have taken a linking to Vinicius in scouting him

he is you know!

Switches on SSN for the first time for ages.

Sees Michael Bridge discussing CV and says JM and Spurs will have had a fantastic transfer window if they get him and a defender.

Anton Tououi reaction... raised eyebrows, disbelief face...Manure t..t

Switches off.

Like the sound of this dude. He sounds like he’s got the skill set we need as a impact sub. Brilliant that, by all accounts, he sounds physical.
