Who is the player (or players) that so far THIS SEASON has disappointed/underwhelmed you the most?

Apart from all the previously mentioned and one who after his first couple of appearances I was really excited about.

Reguilon. Been awful for weeks now, terrible ball control when trying to move forward and can’t seem to pass it to another one of our players. Really disappointed.
I don’t see how Reggie has been the single most disappointing player this season....

If you think Toby should be on the list of players who’ve underwhelmed, you’ve been watching a different player this season. Guys been back to his near best. Absolutely no way he should be on there.

Disappointing
Doherty - yet to see anything to suggest we have a solid back up if Aurier's improved form drops off.
Bale - agreed with Keane when he said Bale looks way off it. At the moment I'd rather see Dele come off the bench than Bale.

Underwhelming
Reguilon - signed from Real Madrid, regular for Sevilla, international caps for Spain, so probably unfairly to him built him up in my head. A work in progress player and not yet the solid starter you need for a title challenge.

You mean our record signing who drifts in and out of games, can't deal with getting kicked, and can't seem to complete 90 minutes. Damn me and my lofty expectations.
You are talking a load of shite, but at least here is your 'explanation'.. :playful:

Lo Celso for me. Looked the real deal at one point last season but at the moment just seems to be a slightly deeper playing Lamela - and is it me or is our win record overall with him in the starting XI very poor?

Anyone who has been tracking Bale and Doherty's developments in recent years could have predicted that they'd probably not do as well as some on here were hoping, although I did expect a bit better from both of them.

Dele, Winks and Sanchez - I knew they'd all struggle to make the starting XI this season but to see their careers dive off a cliff like this is really sad to see

APART FROM ALL THE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED...
You could go through just about every player in the squad on that basis...

It’s all a matter of opinion but for a player that joined us relatively late from a different league I think he has been positive and don’t see many calls for Davies to start ahead of him. He is one of the few players that give us an attacking outlet.

So basically Dele, winks, lo celso, ndombele, reggie, bale, doherty, stevie and even toby have disappointed. Maybe it would have been easier to ask who's Impressed. My how the mighty have fallen. We would never have got this thread two weeks ago?

I can understand how some would be disappointed in what we've seen out of Ndombele, Lo Celso & Bergwijn this season and I hoped we'd get more impact from them as well. But I chalk that much more up to how they're being used rather than the players themselves. They both feel wasted right now.

That’s quite fair. Hypothetically, if we trying to sign them now and told them how we were going to play I can imagine them saying no thanks. If COVID had not crippled a lot of other teams and leagues financially they’d probably chose to go elsewhere rather than play in this style, which doesn’t come naturally to either of them.

Pragmatic response

Underwhelmed
Doherty

Disappointed
Dele
Bergwijn
Bale
Rose

Not included Sanchez as I thought he would disappear anyway
Rose because he should leave if he has any interest in his career rather than pay day

Would include a few more if not for benefit of the doubt due to fitness and team rotation

Biggest disappointment for me has been Bale and I really wanted it to work, especially as it’s a part of the side that could really do with a boost in creativity and goals to ease the burden on Harry and Son.

Part of that is probably nostalgia for the player he was and I didn’t expect him to be the same particularly after playing so little football but I’m most disappointed with the work rate. He seems to stand and wait for ball to come to him.
