Play him in CM and good things will happen. Also wanted to see Bergwijn in AMC role since preseason.

At last Mourinho has given him 90 minutes in his proper position. Great all round performance from him.

Hopefully this helps convince Jose that his best position is in a CM2. We lose a little bit of defensive solidity in the middle (Ndombele will never track runners quite like Sissoko does) but having him in that deeper role transforms our possession game and links the midfield and attack so much better. He's unpressable, can pass between the lines yet can still get in the box on occasion (see yesterday) - it transforms the entire team. He's also just SO much more involved and as our best midfielder on the ball that's exactly what we want. He had 85 touches yesterday and I'd guess that's close to double what he typically has when he's played higher up.

With Ndombele alongside Hojbjerg in the middle I think we would've won most of the 1-1 draws we've had this season. We also might've lost one but the trade-off would be more than worth it.

This is what most of us on here have been saying all season. Play Sissoko alongside Hojbjerg in the bigger games where it is more important not to lose (Liverpool, Man C etc.) and then play Ndombele deeper alongside Hojbjerg in games we should be winning, with an AM (Lo Celso, Dele or Lamela) in the 10 role.

I've said right from the start that LoCelso, Hojbjerg, Ndombele would be a formidable midfield. Hojbjerg does the screening job with Ndombele and LoCelso getting forward one at a time. Can't wait for GLC to be fit now that Mourinho seems satisfied that Tanguy can be trusted.

Question is, will Jose be comfortable playing Ndombele in CM2 if we play with a back 4? That remains to be seen.

I suppose we might stick with the back 3 but in the past we've only played that system against other teams with that system, so I can't see Jose switching formation permanently.

433 has always been the obvious formation for me with the players we have.

I always saw this as our strongest Midfield with Ndombele playing the no8 role and Lo Celso the no10 role. GLC excelled for betis in this position and it was ultimately made us go after his signature. Once those three start to click, we will finally have a midfield to be proud of again.

Perfect digne pivot. The more stacking element who is robust enough to do the mucky stuff, and the more defensive element who can play a bit. Really want them to get a run together whether we go 3 at the back or 4, as the potential for them to boss the opposition is potentially better than both Parker/Modric and Wanyama/Dembele. I know it was only Sheffield United but you have to start somewhere.
Yeah but Souness said he didn't mean that goal so lets not get carried away :cautious:
Kane’s goal was also all shot the opposition defence being too stand offish and not being aggressive enough.

The guy really hates us and I really don’t understand why. Must be because he didn’t make it with us when we had Glenn ahead of him.

Said it in the ratings thread but imo Tanguys goal is an instant goal of the season contender. For me it's like a spectacular overhead shot, but its at a tight angle, cushioned, looped and guided rather than thunderbolted into the net.

Absolutely insane goal. If Salah scored that MotD would be dissecting it for 10 mins and we'd be seeing it from 3000 different angles in super slow mo.
