I feel like it's not so much is being spent but how wisely it's being spent.I know in the last few windows we have invested, but given we didn't invest much (or at all in some cases) in the years before that, does it average out differently?
Tottenham owner Lewis lines up sale after 50% buyer found
Football Insider can reveal Joe Lewis has sanctioned a potential Tottenham sale after a 50 per cent buyer for the club was securedwww.footballinsider247.com
just encase some on hasn’t read it. Pure click bait really
Your proposal intrigues me and I'd like to sink my life savings into your bold and innovative venture. Would you like the 47p as a cheque or postal order?I'm starting a GoFundMe campaign to buy the other 50%
We did invest. The money was made available and spent. We broke our transfer record. We brought in the most expensive manager in the league. But we invested badly. Mourinho has been poor, Lo Celso injured, Ndombele a disappointment, most of our other signing s haven't lived up to our expectations. The problem hasn't been cash, it's been what happens next. Bad choices on the football side. Poch, Mourinho, Hitchen... It's frustrating. Two years ago today we beat City to get to the CL semi final! Ajax aside, I don’t remember enjoying supporting us very much since!
Much of that is on the board, it was a real chance for us to kick on, invest in the team and build on that CL run. Instead we’ve gone massively backwards, literally from Champs League final to mid table ?
Oh yes, couldn't agree more. I think that people would even be understanding about money in the short term until the stadium starts generating revenue. How about the back to back windows when we didn’t spend a penny
That is the reason we are where we are today. It was an absolutely unprecedented move at the time which many of us thought incredibly dangerous
The squad has been too comfortable and stale pretty much ever since!!
Has/is taking a long long time to turn the tanker around again after those windows
Money was there available to spend. But the indications were that Poch was too picky. We should have signed Tielemans, for example, but Poch didn't want him. That was a mistake. In any case, if our signings since had come off - if Ndombele was half the player we expected, same with Bergwijn - then we would be flying right now. Despite everything, it is worth remembering that we are not that far off points-wise right now. A few better decisions and...How about the back to back windows when we didn’t spend a penny

Maddison wouldn't have come here to sit on the bench - he's on record saying as much.Even though I agree are we paying for our inactivity in previous windows, it's been covered many times on here already that it was just as much down to Poch as it was down to Levy. We tried for De Jong, Rabiot, De Ligt and NDombele (the season before we signed him) during those windows and couldn't get the deals done for various reasons. Poch then wouldn't except accept alternatives such as Tielemanns or Maddison.
We clearly had some money available to spend but Poch was obviously happy to continue with what we had than what he deemed as substandard alternatives.
The issue I have with Enic is if they had a choice of spending 500m on players to win the league and champions league or pay 1 billion for a stadium they would choose the stadium because they will get that money back with a sale

To be fair I would say they have got that right. Who knows what £500m would be spunked on. New stadium gives us a long term advantage.

Arsenal are now spending more. They’re just doing it badly. Before the stadium they weren’t paying Ohio type wages.Said Arsenal.
