People saying that this is a disgrace is a bit ott.

It was a disgrace when they started charging over 50 quid for a ticket.

It was a disgrace when the pl was not shown on terrestrial television anymore.

It was a disgrace when on top of a subscription based show they then added ppv

It was a disgrace when owners/criminals were allowed to buy football clubs.

It was a disgrace when Roman Abramovic was allowed to take control of a club.

What happened at Portsmouth and others with owners asset stripping was a disgrace.

Players recieving 2/3/4 hundred thousand a week is a disgrace.

Buying players for millions is a disgrace.

Countries buying football clubs and attempting to buy success was a disgrace.

A club being named after a fizzy drink was a disgrace.

A closed European super League is a bad but let's not get on a high horse now after we have accepted all sorts of shit in the past 20 years.

Uefa/FIFA/sky sports can all go fuck themselves as far as I'm concerned. We have been on this downward spiral for years and now they complain, why?

Because they stand to lose money, fucking hipocritical wankers.
It's the screwing over of all the other clubs that I can't get past, even if their chairmen would also jump at the chance to get all that extra money.

Their not even figures that clearly exist separately from these organisations. A lot of them have had some sort of internal involvement within uefa. It’s just some backstabbing game of thrones shit it’s not some revolution.

Similarly the dysfunction Of Uefa and fifa is simply reflecting the dysfunction of the member associations which make uefa and fifa. The fact that you are taking power away from shitty associations that technically represent lots of people and technicallly have some sort of accountability to national associations to the hands of a group of a few rich owners with no connection at all with the game at a broader level is not a positive development. Uefa’s shit but power to a few individuals in clubs over associations I think is even worse frankly.

I much preferred Neville's idea a year ago of an independent regulator

Bit morbid to link a famous saying about ww2 to something as irrelavent in comparison like football...
Perhaps. Although that poem is famous for its ability to exemplify lots of contexts since. I’ll delete it if you find it offensive and apologise.

There is no tipping point. If it gets unwatchable I’ll just find another way to pass the time.
Make no mistake, I am an avid Spurs fan. But I do not let football control my life because that is just nonsensical.
I’m not sure what other line has been crossed that you refer to. Businesses want to make money.
Football will still happen. We can still watch football.
No one is taking away the act of watching a game of football with your mates/family/friends/whatever.

A self imposed ban of watching Spurs sounds about as melty as it gets.
I don't think I will ever stop watching mate. I can't I don't think. I am envious of those who can.

Maybe my opinion will change or I will become numb to it, but right now I just think it's a step too far and undermines the honesty of our club and the game. And whilst I have this opinion I will be actively supporting any campaign to have the owners removed and the club returned to what I believe would be a modicum of decency.

Whether this happens or not now, it's going to be permanent mark on our history that can't be erased.

. If as a club we’re against the ESL then we should also withdraw from UEFA as that is just as weighted, just as unfair and just as far removed from what is good for the game in my opinion.

For what it’s worth, I don’t like it, I really don’t, but I like the option of losing going to Spurs with my dad even less.
Absolutely hit the nail.on the head mate.
Sums it up for me.

I really don't think it will happen.
I see it as a power play by the biggest clubs to get more control of the revamped Champions League.

Though I'm not sure why we're involved.
Filthy lucre my friend. That's why we're involved. That's the motivation for it all. Rather than holding the already corrupt footballing authorities to account and forcing change, we're going to help ourselves to a larger piece of the pie.

*Important. If it happens, it'll happen with or without us. If it doesn't happen, nothing changes. If it does happen, everything changes.

So if every team just follows the same logic then no one's to blame, really.

Many ways to deal with it. Even a union of associations isn’t terrible in itself it just needs to be accountable to fan voices, there are many ways one could do that. Rather than looking at the sidelines as you watch different people fuck the fans there really needs to be a serious and motivated push to fight back, I can’t stand the passivity and this idea of inevitability, those very feelings are what allow these figures to just roll over us fans. But we do have some power that can make things very uncomfortable as a minimum really.

We seem so far away from winning anything that I’m relaxed about this whole thing. If we were in the CL semi final and in a title race I’d be terrified right now. Jose has played a blinder this season.

There's only one way to stop this, and it's the players refusing to play in it. Without the players there's no product to sell.

Like I said however, if there's enough money behind this then how many players would play for half or a third of the money at an inferior level vs higher pay in a higher level?

Money talks and time heals all wounds. If they know there's enough guaranteed funding to ride through the tough times they'll come through it with it being the norm of elite club level football

This is the dilemma.

Clubs like us and Arsenal could leave though and we'd just be replaced, the real power as usual lies with Real, Barca and co. They are the ones who would need to call it off and I can't see that happening with their finances.

I dont think it would happen without Barca, RM, Man Utd. I mean specifically they'd go ahead without *us*. Given that, we have a choice. Be in it, or be in the rPL. We can all take a moral stance, and the majority of us think the ESL stinks, but we'd be one of the left behind playing in a 2/3's empty stadium against clubs currently struggling to get into the Championship play-offs.
