Scotland neutralised the front three good so far. Kane really struggling to do anything atm. Grealish for Mount and Rashford for Sterling?

Its not Kanes fault, no one passes to him or can make a successful pass to him .... Like with us last season he is constantly dropping back to get a touch and get involved, its ok at times but the more he does it the more he is not the area you want him to be

Think one of the problems Kane and England have is we don't have an English equivalent of Son. When Kane comes deep it's usually to create space for Son. Sheringham did the same for Shearer. Without that partner, the system Kane flourishes in doesn't work.

England's tactic is literally give the ball to Sterling and Foden and they put their head down and run into traffic, it's awful.

The fullbacks are allergic to crossing too.

Southgate is utterly clueless.

Sterling < > Grealish

And if Kane isnt getting involved then swap him for DCL. We're kind of playing with 9 men at times.

Mount not in this one. Obvious swap with Grealish
Hopefully Kane thinking having Son rather than Sterling/Foden isn’t that bad after all.
(If only we could get the rest of the team on their level)

Yeah it’s a good point actually, I think that’s a large part of why we don’t see him fully effective in an England shirt.

Southgate's idea of a more attacking line up from Croatia is to switch the fullbacks to James and Shaw. It's pretty much like for like in my view and doesn't really offer much more. Would get Grealish on for Sterling at half time and let him run at their Right hand side, which is far weaker than their left.

Sterling is meant to be that person.

I know the service for Kane is pretty much nonexistent but does anyone remember when he used to bully defences ala Drogba. When the ball goes near him nowadays that that is not exactly in the place he wants it, he doesn’t really compete. I think it is a real loss to his game.

I think the main issue is, that Mount has been really poor at linking the Defence to the Attack

I know this is an exaggeration but in the last match and at times here, it feels like we are playing with one CM(Philips) the other two are non existent

Swap Grealish for Mount and I think you got a different beast

Need better control in the middle of the park. Wouldn't be surprised to see Bellingham. Foden not doing the business at all.

Hard to see what England actually are apart from individually good players. No physicality in Mount, Sterling, Foden. No snappy passing. No intensity of pressing. What do they actually do?

I don't get what England are trying to do here. Cautious and confused. No width and no forward passes means they're struggling to play out.

The fullbacks have done very little to justify their place so far, Rice and Phillips have basically been AWOL for 45 mins there, Foden Mount and Sterling are floating about to little effect and just fucking up possession whenever they get it, and Kane has been desperately insipid again. As captain that really isn't on.

By being so flat and low intensity we're giving Scotland the chance to get up the pitch - both with the ball, and to engage us as we go nowhere in possession - and so giving them plenty of encouragement.

Needs to be much better.

Kane has been playing like that with Sterling and Rashford from late 2018 onwards for England. Doing the same with Son is a much more recent development.

Well, that was fucking dreadful - Kane don’t look fit at all! Sterling shocking, foden is a magician but not in it, few little touches to move away from the defence etc, but Southgate NEEDS to make a double change second half, hrealish & rashford for mount and Sterling for me!

The Scottish will tire after the hour mark, done a lot of running off the ball when we've been in possession. Fullbacks need to push forward with more overlapping runs. Rice off for Grealish.
