I'm 32 so if I were to comprise a list of legends from my lifetime it would only consist of one name, which is obviously Ledley King. To achieve legendary status takes a special combination of talent and longevity that nobody else comes close to in the last 30 years.

Icons, sure plenty, same with cult heroes. But legends? None.

Sonny could become a legend if he has a few more amazing seasons for us. Lloris isn't far off tbf.

Of the current generation, obviously Ledley and yes possibly Son and Hugo. Vertonghen. Not only was one of our greatest CBs of all time, but always carried himself so well and such a great guy I was so happy to have represent the club. To me he's what Spurs are all about, both as a player and a person. And he's still fully coys. Hope he comes back in some capacity some day.

Of the generations before me. I know Blanchflower, MacKay, Greavsie, and Cliff Jones.

Mabbutt was probably the greatest model professional I've ever seen in football. Looking after Gazza bringing him to the Lane after his troubles 30 years after playing with him. What a great guy.

I mostly agree with the OP, but a couple of obvious omissions:

Klinsmann - Instigated a loan move so he could return to save us from relegation.

Anderton - I think most people forget / never appreciated just how good he was. Could have moved on to win title with Man Utd (like Teddy did), but stuck with us through the gruelling 90s (when even qualifying for Europa Conference League would have been an exciting achievement for us).
Was tempted by both, Kinsmann I was at SP fit the four goals so very close but I think he just has even too little longevity for me.

Darren at his best was a very good player for us but when his game changed he just became a little safety first for me and post the run of injuries I just can’t remember that much special from him bar that goal v Leeds. I’m potentially being very harsh though and I do think at his best he was England’s most talented midfielder.

I'd like to put federico Fazio in there, not because he was a great player, but because he nutted that neanderthal fuckwit Diego Costa.

For me - to be a "Club Legend" you need at least one of two things:

1. You won something for the club
2. Longevity - you played for the badge for a long time.

I'd put Dawson in the later category, even if he was not a "great" player.

I would not put some of the "great" talents as club legends if they were here for a short time, or never won anything (or at least important games).

Ian Walker won something and was with us for a decade.

For me its about sustained individual excellence first, team success as a second element.

I know and it wasn't the only time he was spotted in the stands, wearing a shirt and Spurs hat.
That, coupled with when he stripped down to his pants in his last game, to throw all of his kit into the crowd make him a legend for me.
Not the best player, wasn't with us for very long but he just seemed to 'get it'.

Easily Lamela. Guy bled blue and white. Gonna miss him.
That's it really.
There aren't any easily definable things that make a legend. For me, it's not how long they served or even how well they played, there's just a certain connection with some players.
It's like they understand what us fans feel and appreciate it.
It's a feeling.

In the midst of his worst injuries (95-98) he had two very good tournaments with England.

I came back to add Martin Jol, but see others have already named him. Totaly agree. Didn't quite lead us to the promised land, but certainly led us out of the wilderness. It still fills me with sadness and rage to think about the way he was treated.....

I always thought he was fairly decent at the time, but maybe that was more from the expectations I had of a Germany international who had won back-to-back Bundesliga titles and the Champions League with Dortmund, than what I actually saw him do. He was constantly criticised for never scoring, but that really wasn't his job.
