Is this what becomes of Rolf Harris after a few years incarceration without access to paint brushes?

Yep. I reckon if he’s involved today then he’s staying. Even if he’s on the bench
Either way, I think that putting him on the bench would just be a PR move. Given his lack of training and the high risk of injury, I just couldn't see him actually being called onto the pitch.

And that right there is why you have the rep you do as a Club, so arrogant.

Not as much as Liverpool, Chelsea and United fans though mate. On the whole, the City fans I know all remember where they’ve come from and appreciate the success they now have. Yes they love a bit of banter but who doesn’t.

For that reason I always rather City win the league than the others…….especially Liverpool, they reckon their club is ‘an institution’ that all other clubs should bow down before in absolute awe.

To be fair to Merson you can see his logic. If you take Kane out of the team then you take out his goals and assists from last season. That means going into the season we're already -37 goals down. If we did similar to last season we would get around 31 goals. Only Sheff Utd did worse last season so we would likely finish 2nd from bottom.
The drop off wouldn't be so linear or as bad as you suggest, but a lot of fans are deluded about how we'd get on without Kane. We will score fewer goals and need more chances to get them. Nobody will step in directly to fill that void. I find it bizarre how many want to see him gone because their feelings are hurt. Like some rando online is going to stay super supportive of Spurs when he's scoring shed loads for them while we're scratching around mid table looking for a spark.

I did spot a stat on that sky sports fan forum that said something like 81% of spurs fans think we shouldn't sell. That's a bit reassuring, and not the impression you'd get on here. It'll be fantastic if he's still with us in Sept

I completely understand that, I feel if he wanted to leave so badly but be respectful than surely you talk to Levy, talk to City and try and sort it out in house. If nothing happens then sign a contract, put a release clause and say bye with respect.

Definitely tarnished his reputation with your supporters and feels like that was at least partially avoidable.

You'll always have fans who fall out with players over transfers and I think they see a more idealistic view of players and football nowadays.

I'm not going to reply to all the City criticism as I said I only want to talk about Harry Kane, I could just go on twitter for that. Been a supporter since I was a child and can't ever see myself changing that.
What gets me is City have shed loads of cash, oil has done alright in the pandemic, can pay the price if they want to buy you don’t want to - so surely you don’t want the player. If we were actively trying to sell I see your position but we are not so surely it’s up to you to meet our price

I have come onto this forum genuinely because I wanted to see how spurs fans view this whole debacle.

Regardless of club views or the views on the clubs we each support.

Some of you have been super cool to talk to, as a football fan I want to have genuine discussions on the clubs we support. That's what makes football great for me as a supporter.

I don't understand the abuse I have received from some of you, I understand that is football sometimes but I didn't come onto the page to give my opinions, I asked for yours on a couple of questions not necessarily the whole ideals on the owners of premier league clubs.

If I was asked a question then I only answered to give a response.

Don't pay too much attention to the abuse, but sorry it's come your way.

You have the answer already but it can be summed up by: we all understand exactly why he wants to leave, we just hate the way he's gone about it.

Pep laying the groundwork for runaway winner of the Most Arrogant Man in Football award again

Biggest fraud in football award too. The way the media go on about the football he plays & what a coach he is is sickening. Start of last season defence was shocking. Puts it right on the training ground? Nope £60m on Dias. What a coach If we want to get what Kane's worth then a clean sheet against city after their toothless display against Leicester will probably do it

Was thinking last night, and we should demand some of their best youngsters in exchange. Players like Silva and Laporte are all well and good, but throw in Cole Palmer, Tommy Doyle and Jayden Braaf. £120m and those three and I'd be over the moon

I honestly don't know if we are or aren't interested, it's so hard to judge with the amount of info that's constantly about. It's all one extreme to another.

Definitely feel Kane wants the move, definitely feels like he's made his mind up. It's all the clubs at this point.

If we took players I'd rather players who could help us now than in 3 years.

That's the problem.

City's wealth has nothing to do with football, unlike that of clubs that have built their buying power (money's always been a factor) on the strength of the support that footballing achievements have nurtured. Football that is detached from its support like this is a different thing from the game most of us fell in love with.

So City and Chelsea in England have taken something essential away from the game.

That makes it hard to discuss football in a footballing sense with someone who wants to talk about potentially the biggest transfer in UK history while overlooking the essence of what is the most damaging thing to happen to the game since its inception.

Do we know yet if he's intending to grace us with his presence today?

If not then we should bring him to Portugal for Thursdays match, then make him watch from the bench and not bring him on.

I’m hoping City come in after the game with a big bid that we accept.

It’s a buyers market and we will get more value for money this window then next summer as other clubs will have had a year of extra revenues to cushion their troubles.

I am in the minority here so I am not going to argue with everyone on this board.

You are talking about the morality of things that I, nor any other City or Chelsea fan can control. You are talking about billions of pounds that was opened when the premier league was founded in 1990's.

It's like if I said, I can't talk to you about what brand of phone is better without mentioning the conditions the chinese workers are in at apple or samsung? What use is that to the conversation? That is money and policies involved in things we will never change or be able to change.

I think most fans understand Kane wanting to leave but aren't happy how he's gone about it.

He only wants city who seem to have a never ending supply of funds but it appears they're working together to get Kane on the cheap.

If Grealish is worth £100m Kane is worth £150m minimum & he should have been your priority. Coming to an agreement at the start of the summer that we get £150m to spend before any other club knows we'd sold Kane & I think we'd have accepted that. Offering less than you paid for Grealish & Kane not turning up for training is taking the piss & stinks of him being tapped up & told to create a fuss.
