Anyone feeling happier that suddenly a new thread or an encouragement post of a signing appear?

I know I shouldn't let the club transfer window affect my mood, last night poor performance and quiet activity did dampen my whole of today TBH. But I can't lie that some positive noise like this does cheer me up.

Of course, we are fans and we need new signings to improve :)

Pape Sarr (Metz) in negotiations with Tottenham. All parties are negotiating, but nothing has been done yet. Discussions are advanced, however. They relate to a transfer exceeding 10 million euros, according to our information

Just reading some posts about him on the internet.

  • Apparently played for Metz on the weekend and once again demonstarted he should be in the PL.
  • Sarr isnt a sitter he is a box to box with great passing and shot, he has done more than Moriba and was better last season than camavinga. He has great potential however An extra season would be great for him at metz.
  • Agreed. I also rate him higher than Moriba who I don't particularly rate highly.
Another season to develop would have been ideal, but with our current midfield options and Sarr’s potential and current ability, I see a genuine opportunity for him as a starter in the league. It’s not numbers in midfield we lack, but genuine ball progression and attacking threat. Ndombele won’t play a role, Lo Celso needs to improve his progressive actions and final third production, even if it hasn’t been his role so far, and Alli can’t run progress with the ball at a good level. Considering Sarr is also a goal threat and better defensively than all 3, I think and hope he can adapt quickly and make his mark. But patience is required for someone of his age obviously.

No chance we are getting him this cheap. He has so much competition , I refuse to believe we have a fair chance of landing him.

I can only assume this is our revenge for them not letting us have Habib Diallo last summer.

Can he start?
If he maintains his level from Metz and translates to the prem, then yes, his performance level is better than Alli, Lo Celso, and Ndombele isn’t gonna play anyway. But will that happen? Probably not immediately. But a huge talent who is definitely the best option next to skipp and hojbjerg if he even just matches his form from last season. Most importantly, it’s a perfect profile that the squad lacks. An athletic B2B who will progress the ball effectively and through carrying and passing and someone who’ll make forward runs ahead of the ball to create space. I think he’s basically Gravenberch without the elite tight-space footwork but with the potentially elite defensive profile.
