I’m going to be away in Switzerland for the 2nd leg against Paços and the Watford game, meaning I’m going to have to rely on the match day thread to understand what’s going on.

I’ve already started double dosing valium in anticipation.

My positivity will keep your spirits up.

Because we were outplayed for most of the game and had they been a bit more clinical in finishing should have had at least 2 goals. Don't tell me you thought we were the better side. Don't get me wrong I like any supporter will take the win it's another 3 points but we were lucky to hold on and play like that wont win us many games in the season.
Wolves had the most possession but that's all. 6 shots on target and that was the same amount as us. They had no goals disallowed so we didn't get lucky there. Nor did we have any VAR decisions unfairly go our way. They didn't hit the bar nor post. Yes Traore could have scored that 1v1 but he either wasn't good enough to finish it or our keeper was fantastic in saving it. So we were not lucky not even in the slightest, we can't say we were because Wolves couldn't finish. Thats something other than luck. I don't think we were the better team but similarly id say Wolves didn't stand out as the better team either based on nothing else but superior possession.

It was a strange game as Wolves threatened constantly but rarely did I feel they posed a geniune threat. Toothless.

Some people said that about him when he was still at Boro. Every 18 months we hear the same stuff about him adding a bit more to his game and it’s all bollocks. He’s a remarkable athlete but a limited footballer.
Scared the shit out of me, particularly when he moved into the centre. Tanganga will need neck massages tomorrow. If this guy had a end game what could he be? Thank god he doesn’t.

Instead of saying Kane is pivotal to the team would it be better to demand that we sign a creative midfielder or at least one who can dictate from deep?

That way Kane doesn't need to drop too deep and we don't need to play everything through him.

Get a second CF too

I didn't see the game and there's alot of disenchantment with the performance in here but I read the BBC report and they reckon the Wolves keeper kept them in the game with four superb saves in the second half.
Were they lying?
Anything other than dominating for 90 minutes just isn't good enough!

We clearly setup to soak up pressure and hit on the break and if we'd been a little more ruthless then I think everyone would be a bit calmer.

It's early days in the revolution and winning is a decent habit to get into even when not everything is firing on all cylinders.

Bereft of any quality, I’m very concerned that a midfielder isn’t on our priority list before the window shuts. All we’ve really heard is some tentative links to Aouar if he’s available at a knockdown price, but on that showing we are desperately short of ball playing and creative central midfielders. More so if Ndombele skulks out of the door

Wolves did the same against Leicester last week. An obscene amount of off target shots and a higher xG. Leicester also won 1-0

Have to think we either need to shift Ndombele or get him playing. I cannot see us buying someone of the required quality and have him warming the bench.

Another game for Lo Celso and I'm still not sure what his star quality is, but maybe we have high hopes for him?

I swear this happens all the time. I honestly can't remember watching a match where I haven't questioned the same thing.

I can only assume the linesmen are already in their way up the pitch when it happens.

It just seemed more blatant. I know the gk’s normally release the ball before crossing the line. Sa was holding the ball after he had left his area.

Nope. We were fortunate to be ahead at half time. Aside from the Traore one-on-one in the 2nd half which came from Dier playing higher up the pitch and getting tackled on Wolves’ half, we managed the 2nd half well.

The game could have gone either way and we need to improve but some of the assessments in here which make out it was a proper smash and grab are well over the top.

Didn't get to watch the game so decided to catch the overall gist from here...
Well it seems we showed great spirit despite being over run by a team kept in the game by their keeper with our wantaway ex-talisman striker trying to prove he's not worth the dosh we expect while still adored by the faithful.

1-0 is all I care about.

Thought we looked so much better when he came on for Moura. Team looked much better balanced, not sure what you were expecting.
