We know how this story ends. It ends with Kane sold on deadline day and Traore listed as a striker on the website :cautious:

I'm pretty level headed on here, but i can understand the disappointment. Yes there is a week to go but the information being very positive, pretty consistently, for the last 6 weeks is now in the last week of the window becoming pretty underwhelming. It is a bit de javu, which is a shame. But i'll see where we are next tuesday
Always the way. I never believe anything, until the player is holding up the shirt.

So basically, we can’t buy anymore defenders or midfielders until we sell first, so surprise surprise we are screwed, looking like a normal transfer window to me, just waiting till September 1st for the normal excuses come out..

Things we've been told:

There's money available regardless of Kane going. Romero is a loan with option, seems we are trying to do the same with Traoré.

Incomings are not reliant on outgoings

1 striker 2 if Kane leaves.
Now is appears Son will be pushed up top and again no competition/backup for Kane.

Levy knows he needs to invest and CL is the priority. We have just over a week to go and the only links appear to be highly rated kids, I do love these type of signings but we are currently weaker than the end of last season. Even if we got the 2/3 kids and Traoré I don't see a top 4 challenge.
Romero is only a loan with option as a player can’t be sold twice in the same window.

Alasdair Golds latest article:

Traore/ Striker:
Tottenham are expected to try to bring Traore to the club in the final eight days of the transfer window because, without putting too fine a point on it, Espirito Santo loves him.

The other key element in the interest is that Paratici is also a big fan of the player and is understood to have offered more than £50m to Wolves to try to sign him when he was at Juventus.

There has been talk of a loan to buy move and the belief among Espirito Santo and Paratici is that within a team that can boast, on paper, more attacking talent around Traore, his ability to draw two to three players to him because of the fear and the need to doubling up he creates, will create space galore for his team-mates to profit in.

While his arrival would seem to block the path of at least one or two of the other wingers that include Bergwijn, who pulled off a sublime bit of skill before setting up Kane for a big chance in a good performance, Lucas Moura or new signing Bryan Gil, there is also the option mooted within the club that he instead replaces Son's position as a winger in order to push the latter further up the pitch.

That would mean changing the system to a two up front with the South Korean up alongside Kane, in a partnership that brought plenty of success for both last season. Traore is also able to play as a support striker if required through the middle.

With that in mind, football.london understands that it's currently a case of signing Traore or a striker for Tottenham.

Defenders:
Spurs' attempts to bring in another centre-back and right-back are currently being hampered by having so many players in those positions in the squad, with four natural centre-backs, plus two others capable of playing there, and three right-backs.

Ndombele/ Another attacking midfielder:
Further up the pitch, unless Tanguy Ndombele were to get his wish to move, which is currently unlikely due to the fee Spurs would require for their record signing, it's unlikely that another attacking midfielder will be brought in at this stage unless an opportunity that's simply too good to pass up arises in the final days.

Sarr:
Such a deal is the one Tottenham are in advanced talks seal for Metz wonderkid Pape Matar Sarr, with a loan move back to the French club for the season for the 18-year-old.

It's very much a move with the future in mind. The Senegalese teenager is seen as one of the most exciting young prospects in French football and can play in central midfield, or an attacking or defensive role in the middle.

Sarr has plenty of admirers within Spurs and the deal for him is being likened to the one that brought Dele Alli to the club six years ago, loaning him back to ensure not only that Tottenham get one of the top young talents in Europe ahead of others but also to continue his development and education with regular first team football in an environment he is comfortable in.

I tend to believe most of what the sainted Ally Gold tells me, but for the life of me I can't understand this apparent love of Traore and the idea of him being our creative wide midfielder almost makes me laugh.

I'm also aghast at the idea of us paying that useless lazy, unprofessional lump Ndombele £200,000 every week to sit on his lazy arse until we can find another mug club to take him off our hands. It's clear Nuno has no plans to play him so I don't see any alternative but to let him sit on the sidelines playing with his fingers.

Signing all these wonder kids is a great idea for the future but we need serious re-inforcements and upgrades NOW and I'm sure a few will be coming in from somewhere. Hopefully. In Fabio I trust.

From what it looks like to me we would like to bring Another Winger now when Kane, Son and Scarlett all are Striker options. Last season we didnt have Scarlett and I think the club rather see us wait a season to see his development this year and not block his path with Kane + another top striker ahed of him.

In Romanos tweet it said that we are looking at 3 winger. In my view Adama is (Nunos first choice) madueke ( probably Hitchen scouted) and then I think there will be a Paratici scouted winger in there.

From what ITKs have said with our goal to sign 3 players and with the links we have had i am more than happy. If we end up with Tomiyaso, a winger and a new center mid to replace Ndomble (mckennie or kessie) we should bow for Don fabios work this window.

Gollini
Gil
Romero
Kessie/mckennie
Winger

+ Aurier, sissoko and Ndombele out! I am so excited for what this last week. COYS!

A serious question - one rationale for us spending this window is that levy realises it’s too expensive to miss out on CL. Is there any chance he looks at the state or the presumed top 4 and thinks it’s unlikely we make it anyway and so defers some of the big spending and has a quiet building window instead? I know there are other explanations for the dampening of links like Martinez and Vlautovic but could there be truth in the above?

Aouar and Tomiyasu should be no brainers for what we need and if we are all out for Traore and kane stays I don't think that would be to bad a transfer window.

I wasn't sure if he ever got registered back at Juventus?

He was always a Juventus player, just happened to be on loan at Atalanta.

So far this window he’s been a Juventus player, an Atalanta player, and an Atalanta player on loan at Tottenham. But he’s not a “Tottenham player” in the strictest sense of the term, yet.
