No striker in is mental. It means at least one of Kane or Son will never get a rest. What if Kane gets injured again? Then we're really screwed. We need another proper goal threat up top anyway because currently we only have two players consistently capable of scoring. I just don't see how those in charge can't see this, and Scarlett isn't the answer at just 17.

Strikers
Nuno wants to play with one, And goal scoring runners from deep. He sees Traoré essential for this. Before you sarcastic gits find it hard to resist. His assist and space threat is what I am on about

I am fine with this even if I don’t prefer Traore. Makes sense and if Moriba happens, that’s another late-runner type to fill the box (giggity) for crosses.

Kane wants to play every single game, what can you do?

No competent striker will want to come in as a backup and play 15 games all season. Hopefully, we can give him a rest in the conference league and he'll play 1 game a week.

If we get Traore then we'll also have plenty of rotation options to give Son a rest too.

And when he gets injured for two months at some point? We run Son into the ground again? All the good teams have more than two proven goal scorers, we can't be going down that route and relying on them to score 90% of the 60+ goals that are needed for top four.

As I said, you'll be hard-pressed to find a competent striker who can score 10+ goals from sitting on the bench for 75% of the season.

What I struggle with here is, who are these goal scoring runners from deep. Traore doesn't score, so ok if he occupies space fine but where is the goal threat. Kane as one striker, Son on the left will be our only goal scorers. We have lined up with PEH, Skipp and Alli so far. Well PEH and Skipp are not goal scoring midfielders, and Alli in his deeper role has shown no evidence (yet) that he will be one either.

I'm just not sure where the goals come from. Even our back ups Bergjwin and Moura are not in any way prolific goal scorers. Gil looks like he could be but maybe with a few years of development.

I hope it works out, but I do worry where the goals come from in this squad this season based on previous seasons. It could be that Berg suddenly finds his scoring boots, but it's blind hope at this stage. We really lack goal threat in comparison to the top 4 who have goals from many many places.

And if he doesn't get injured we have no use for him, it is a difficult one and always is with h, decent striker isn't going to sign as if h is fit he won't be playing one prem game, happy with h , son and a forward player like traroe and scarlet for Europe

Dele scores with late runs into the box. So too does Weston McKennie

Thinking signing Traore makes it ok not to have a back up is laughable. Son is just as likely to break

100% agree its a shame indications are no strikers in, we need another striker, kane will bang em in for sure, but he will get some knocks and in that time we really a back up, i love son also but for a game or maybe two we could get away with it but for longer period if kane gets injured Son doesnt work

Tomiyasu should not be a priority whatsoever unless Aurier AND Doherty leave. We need a striker, a winger & at least 1 CM(possibly 2).
I personally don't think Aurier will stay and neither will Doherty play much. Tomiyasu is a flexible choice which will allow us to switch tactically when called upon. And from earlier info, he should already be quite confirmed so I do feel he should be concluded ASAP. But I agree with the rest of what you said.

We literally had one last season.
And Son was preferred to him when Kane was injured. Son has a legitimately excellent strike rate when played up top, it's very very difficult to find a backup striker who managers will prefer over Son when Kane is unavailable. Adding additional depth at winger makes sense if Nuno really rates Son as a No. 9.
