I don't want to have a row about this but I was at the game yesterday and I genuinely don't think his work rate was good at all. Would be curious to know what his stats say as I think he has become one of those players who polarises opinion and its easy to see what you want to see with him.

I also firmly believe in being patient with players but he's been here over 2 years now. I, for one, am reaching the end of my reserves of patience.
His work rate such as it was tailed off alarmingly in the second half and that is why GLC came on for him.

Rubbish. He spent most of the first half hanging around near H up top.
This thread needs to be closed. It's the same cheerleaders every week. If we cant all just agree that he had an ordinary game yesterday and passing was woeful then we have no hope. Dread to think what might happen when he actually has an 8/10 performance.

Dele : Works hard but offers little else. Get out of my club!
Tanguy : Works hard(er than usual) but offers little else. Needs to start.

This !

i couldn’t make up my mind in the second half whether he tired or lost interest. Such a talent but such a wasted career but I suppose his bank account is full to overflowing.
What has his bank account got to do with his footballing.?

In the first 15-20 minutes, NDombele was showing for the ball and carrying the ball forward. He was pressing and it did help wake up more of the team.

You can't say he wasn't committed yesterday. It's clear the instruction was to play in the opposition half and he did.

Was he perfect, fcuk no. Was he awful, fcuk no. But it was better and if he keeps building on that I think we see a player we can rely on.

Frustrating!
Has ability but tends to dwell on ball , does not work enough and very sloppy in possession
Do not believe he does enough to warrant being the 10 in this team - both GLC and Dele offer more.
Im sorry but alli does not offer more. Ndombele has 10 x the ability on the ball than Dele. You talk of dwelling on the ball yet all is the worst for that. He had an off day on the ball but he grafted, he will do better next time on the ball.

He looked decent on match of the day............ . Joking watched the full re run. I think in the number 10 is his best position. Wouldn't stick him in a midfield two... or three. If he aint performing hook him and bring gio on or visa versa. If there is an upgrade available go for it, that applies to all the playing staff I guess.

I personally find it strange that he is gassed so early in games, seemingly cannot keep up a reasonable amount of workrate due to something, be it fitness or something else. A twenty something should have plenty to spare, even Milner at Liverpool seems to have more. and he is slightly older :)

You sound like a hater.
I do hate it when a person is being paid millions but is not committed to being the very best he can be. What happened in the second half yesterday. Did he get tired or did he lose interest ? Whatever his performance certainly fell away quite drastically.

Imo he just needs games games games games the same goes for Dele and Lo Celso.

Watching the game now. He's been poor, really poor control, dribbling and passing.

Just not coming off for him.

I still feel his best position is deeper which allows him to break the press and progress the play. Not sure he has enough end product to play as a 10. That said, he doesn't have the work rate to play deeper.

He's a bit of a flawed player in that he doesn't really fit anywhere. More great recruitment by Spurs.

I'd persist with him at 10 because if it does come off for him there he could rip teams apart with his passing.

I dont think a midfield three helped Dele at all. He needs to play in the front 4 really in a 4231 formation, although do remember him being ok in a midfield 2. There was a game against Man City I think with him and Dier in the midfield 2 and we ended up with a win.

But I don't think he played well at all. I just think the idea that he was lazy on Sunday is nonsense. Usually he's lazy but does brilliant things, yesterday felt like the opposite.

That was man utd. I still think that's one of Alli's best games for us and if we still had that Alli we would be in a great position

He wasn’t “lazy”, neither did he “work hard”, he was just completely middle of the road ordinary. Which is fine, but equally weird that only the Tanguy thread could have 60 new posts on the subject. Just seems like a certain few can’t accept him having an average/poor game.

Same from both sides to be honest
