I think but am not sure, the commentators said VAR couldn't get involved because the referee had seen it and dished out a yellow card. So there's two issues here. Did I hear that correctly and if so, were they right.

nope, he dished out a yellow for Robertson's assault - lets be honest here he went and and violently kicked Royal - he want even thinking of going for the ball.

Kane was going for the ball albeit wildly out of control.

VAR can step in at anytime if they think ref has missed something.
I can only think that the VAR stepped in in the Robertson incident and not the Kane one because the replays showed an intent from Robertson that the ref couldn’t have seen in real time.

But both should have been red cards.

Came into the thread to pick up that - from the snippet of radio I’ve heard this morning - there is already the narrative building that Liverpool were decimated by Covid etc. Danny Murphy specifically highlighted Liverpool’s midfield. As usual the Liverpool ex-pros and writers are demonstrating just how ignorant they are to every other team’s set up and circumstances. Our starting XI was nothing like our strongest - especially in midfield.

Regardless of whether Kane should have walked, it was a thing of beauty to see it on that little goblin Robertson.

Mane and he get away with stuff like that all the time. Possibly our atmosphere was making a difference for a change, for so long we've been on the other end of shit decisions like that at Anfield and Old Trafford. About time we made it vitriolic for referees as well as opposition players and make it difficult.

Just watched Klopps presser- he is the worst-
-complaining about no hand gel- why didn’t he bring some?
- complaints on decisions but nothing on the ones against Spurs of course.
-Belittling Conte’s tactics as if it’s invalid football but our XG was better than theirs.
-Saying we only had Hojberg out from the 1st choice line up whereas it was FIVE changes from Norwich- the whole midfield!

I’m very bored of this self-serving ranting and the journos who never challenge him or any manager on them.

Funny thing is there was hand san there. He should really get his money back for the laser eye surgery seeing as he missed it.

This!
I haven’t heard any mention at all that we had a changed line up. Our midfield have hardly started a game individually let alone together this season.

The constant moaning of Liverpool fans today is fucking priceless. All of this 'we should have had a pen for the foul on Jota... Kane should have gone... VAR is terrible, refs are terrible, Spurs are cheats...' and not a single one says 'Oh yeah, Sala handball in our second, so we shouldn't have had that goal... possible pen against Winks ignored, etc.' I mean I know we're all myopic as football fans, but there's a level of entitlement to this that is baffling. Supposedly they battled us, and we were clinging on - but I don't remember Hugo having to make a save apart from the TAA shot, but you've got Allison having to make a worldy from Dele, you've got Kane missing two he would have scored on any other day, and Son missing two blinders... all in all, it was a very good game, and Conte set up Klopp, and Klopp bit. We gave their wingbacks room to run, deliberately exposing their defence to Kane and Son and they couldn't handle those two.

I think it was fairly clear Conte beat him on the tactics side of things yesterday. Klopp, like Pep, is excellent at setting up a team to play a certain way. The reserves and rotations are usually hardly ever much of a down grade because they all know their roles extremely well. The problem both Klopp and Pep have is they are not good at switching things round mid game to counter any negatives.

It is literally a case of plan A or nothing. Lets be honest though plan A for both teams is extraordinary in terms of effectiveness, but on the occasion a team starts to exploit a weakness in their game they both really struggle to do anything about it. It was the same with Villa last season when they really turned them over. We may never be as exciting as City or Pool with Conte in charge, but what we do have in Conte is a manager that reacts far better to any issues happening within a game than both Pep and Klopp can and do.

Checks twitter to see if they are still moaning.....of course they are. No other fanbase is as bad as them, even the scum.

Every time we play them and don't win it reminds me why I have the words "Liverpool", "salah" and "klopp" muted on twitter. Yet somehow they still sneak through.

i absolutely despise the fucker, like genuinely detest him! just an angry shouty man when things dont go his way! always remember the pic of him spitting where he was so angry!
the fact he was so salty about our tactics show we had his number!

Klopp tried to belittle our tactics by saying we just had 2 guys up top and played the ball over the top. If that's all it was then you look quite idiotic if you continually allowed it to happen... No self-awareness
