No it’s not, but only if we still bring in 2-3 of Contes targets this window. If we fail to bring in anyone it’s very clear we’ll have pissed off the best manager this club has had in decades.
Basically all the people who take issue with the club said DV wouldn't come, and are still moaning he didn't come after signing for the biggest club in Italy.

Loads said Diaz wouldn't happen yet here they are moaning about us not getting him anyway

Hindsight needed. We (potentially) lost three targets to Barca, Juve and Liverpool. It's really not the end of the world is it?

I agree to an extent. But as it stands this may now be our third transfer target who has opted to join another club over us. The stature of those clubs doesn't make this continuing trend any less disappointing.

I don't like that smug bastard with his stupid gunner smile as much as anybody here, but all the usual Liverpool journos are also reporting this plus he called many things right last summer.
Yeuch. I feel sick.

And that's true but those people have a point due to previous failings and the fact that 27 days in we have seen zero movement in what everyone thought was a crucial window.

Of course we should all calm down and wait and see but truthfully I'm only calm because I've seen it all before. I have zero faith in them turning this window around .

Hope I'm wrong as I'd love some good news, bloody need it right now.

It's like I never asked

Two questions.

1: If Adama is going elsewhere, why are you moaning about it in here and not the thread provided

2: If Luiz is going elsewhere, why are you moaning about it in here and not the thread provided

Actually three

3: Are you really this fucking stupid

We need to reassess what a "win" is for this window. Conte clearly wants to clear house based on his squad selections. Whilst it might leave us short I think if we can move on Ndombele, Lo Celso and Dele that is backing the manager and means we can go into the summer without having to talk about moving people on.

Sure it would be nice to get the replacements in now but we are in a bit of a fucked up situation and we might need to make things worse before they get better. The worst thing to do would be to panic and bring another poorly scouted "talent" into the squad.

Maybe try and salvage things with a few last minute loans to bulk the squad but at least we would be streamlined and able to hit the summer market.

No they do. It’s what all the big clubs do - continue to buy the best and build bigger and even better squads. When we were on top, 4-5 years ago, we stood still and didn’t invest. But that’s been done to death.
And now we’ve dropped so low that we are not a very attractive proposition anymore, even with Conte!

But why take joy in being right about the club failing? When neither transfer coming off is really down to the club. It's weird and unhealthy. Anyway this isn't the thread for it so I'll leave it there

Quotes from David Ornstein......

“I think Tottenham have a lot of irons in a lot of fires.” “Diaz is one of the players they like, but there are numerous players, and I’m told there are perhaps even some ahead of him on their wish list.”

“So it could be this has come out now and in coming days we’ll see others emerge, and then when the player signs you’ll get that statement that they were always the top target.”

I poo pooed Ornstein yesterday but now I want to believe this tweet from him! ??? Maybe he knew something then???

although the most likely clearing out will only be for a few months and they will likely be back with us in July needing to be cleared out again before we can 'hit the summer market '

I know some will disagree, but the leaks (ITK) don’t really help the situation. Although we like them, once it’s out in public then it’s fair game. People like Fabrizio are killing clubs like us. This will continue to be the case.

Considering we most likely lost our targets due Barca, Juve and Liverpool I can't really be mad on the club. I'm seriously worried what's next and what's Conte position on this though.

no its not, but if we're going on what paratici usually does, he'll have back ups that he can just pull the trigger on? hopefully he does, ill remain cautiously optimistic, but i think this place will implode late sunday evening when its apparent amrabat is our only in.

Mate any agent who can spell his own name would be telling other clubs to create a bidding war.

All the leaks do is create fun/anger for fans.

The leaks are from the players agents mate. Liverpool didn't find out about our bids from the media. The agents are getting the best price/moves for their players or most amount of money for themselves

I'd imagine the players agent would have contacted the relevent people at Liverpool to inform them of our offer. The player and his agent clearly knew of Liverpool's interest and preferred a move there. I doubt they used Twitter as their platform of choice

I think the answer is more:
  1. Have a strategy
  2. Move first
  3. Pay the fucking price
As I said in the Diaz thread, whether we met their price Day 1 or Day 31, Liverpool were never going to let this happen if they could prevent it by the looks of things. So in that situation you leave it late in the hope they don't. But it seems they've mobilised!
