Yeah my inference was more, what’s being said in public very likely bears little relation to the reality of what is being said between player, agent, and clubs. The player, if he’s being professional, is always going to say he doesn’t want to leave. Why would he invite problems if a deal fell through?

I am very curious to know what Inter would do if Bastoni refuses to leave. I’m assuming they would be forced to sell Lautaro. I know there was talk of Skriniar but I’m not sure he would bring in the same sort of fee as good as he is.
Lautaro and Skriniar don't want to leave Inter too

Oh for sure, none of them want to go, but it’s also true Lautaro was very likely to leave last summer until last min when Chelsea came In so as much as he won’t ideally want to go he may be more amenable to the idea. Also, for most of the season he was the one that was going to be sold. Obviously if none of them accept being sold I wonder what happens.

Logically, if Bastoni didn’t want to come, and had intimated to his agent that that was the case, this wouldn’t even be news, anymore.
Seeing as there is still quite a lot of smoke, something will be happening. I’d suggest this is far from over.

He will want to return to Inter in the future so he will show reluctance to leave and stay on good terms with them. He's only 23 so if he comes here for 4-5 years he can return to Inter for his peak years. Maybe by then Inter will have sorted their finances and can afford to bring him back.
I agree with this and wonder if we could structure the deal to be similar to regulion's? (Sorry if this has been mentioned already).

We give Inter the cash they need now and say if you want to buy him back for the money plus 20-30% in 3-4 years time then you can, and you get first rights if another club come in for him. Just seems like a win win for Spurs to do deals like that. Seems to limit some of the risk too

I noticed the thing with Italian clubs they always wanna look 'good' to the fans when big players leave, citing how much they wish to keep them and players are so loyal to the clubs. At the end of the day, they will hardly stay. ?

Dont see that. If he comes, we'll hardly give him up for that - he'll surely be a 100m player in a few years. Should we get him, he's the type of player we should keep well into his thirties.

But Levy isn’t in charge of transfers any more ?‍♂️

I find it so hard to believe that he's just washed his hands of the entire process, but we'll see. Obviously I'll be delighted if he's finally stopped doing that typical Levy thing.

I'm sorry, but this is such a small time mentality. We need to be setting ourselves up for the future, not developing players for other clubs. I'm not sure how it limits the risk either - if Bastoni was to flop, we certainly wouldn't be getting that 20-30% profit.

That’s one approach. Another approach might be to take advantage of the next couple of years with Kane and Son - win something. Then use that to build for the future.

So get players who can be close to their prime over the next two seasons.

Not sure it will be necessary as if he wants to leave Inter will likely be his first choice anyway.
