For everyone hating on the homegrown quota posts, it is a crucial factor.

I don't think we would even be looking at this guy if he wasn't homegrown.

And now Dybala receives the pass into his feet from Moutinho, makes a little space near the edge of the area, dinks a through ball to the right, a sprinting Spence onto it, hits a first time cross, and LEANDRO DAMIAO HAS SCORED FOR TOTTENHAM!!!

Did Downing play it into Moutinho?

Agree their is better but within our budget i think it be hard to get a better proven player at the moment. I like Emerson and Doherty but feel KWP will be better in the Wingback position under Conte
You may well be right. It's hard to tell right now. KWP has done well for a mid-table team with no aspiration and pressure. Could he level up again with us? I really don't know. If Conte feels he can, I'm all for it, though.

My concern with Spence is that if we really wanted him why wouldn't we have got it done yet? There're question marks over him, mostly due to his lack of high-level experience rather than any concerns about his ability, but how much confidence does the club have in him? Either way, I'll back whoever we get, and as an aside, I have a suspicion Emerson will be much improved next season. I trust Conte and Paratici know their beans.

Everytime we get news it's being discussed and then nothing happens for a few days and we miss a self-imposed deadline, I feel like it's over, time to move on... But then you get snippets like this and you can't help but think... Return of the Djedi?

Hehehe that's for all you pun hating bitches ?

The definition of negotiation.
The SC method of negotiation.

We want £50m for this untested Championship player.
All right, we'll pay.
We also want £10m after 10 appearances.
All right, we'll pay.
And, £15m after he gets 5 goals.
All right, we'll pay.
And.
Just get the player to sign. Send us a bill and we'll pay.

I've nothing against us discussing HG but even by our standards the level of discussion on this is really low.

I feel for the kid, I'd guess if not us then he'd have wanted Forest but thats gone now they've signed Williams. Hope Gibson bends a bit or this lad could end up being wasted Berahino style.

My biggest concern at this point is whoever else we are looking at, Djed, CD, AM etc is going to be missing valuable pre season time. Watching the training from today you can see how much work they are going to be putting in over the next few weeks. I know obviously new players coming in will be put on tailored training to get the up to speed as quickly as possible, but even so i feel it would be ideal to bring in whoever is left on our want list as soon as possible. I'm sure Conte et al agree, and i'm sure this situation here is not making anyone happy, its just now we have some sense of what a Conte pre season entails, it feels even more paramount to get our business done early so we are in the best possible position to start the season all guns blazing.
