I think we're in for a rough economic spell before there's any talk of an upswing - and I wouldn't be surprised to see utility prices stay high even when the economy improves. Our BT bill is going up soon, Sky is expensive, and match tickets aren't getting cheaper, either. I'm not local so was only going a few times a season anyway before COVID. I'm not sure how that will change this season - I wonder if the club will do deals for CL tickets again? I think they stopped doing that when we moved back from Wembley.

Subscriptions to Sky, BT, Amazon, this new Spursplay thing and anyone else. And that's just the fans that don't go. If you do, then in some cases flights and hotels on top of what the UK based fans shell out to get to a game, tickets, some nosebag, a couple of pints etc etc. Being priced out of football is nothing new but when the amount of disposable income you have is ripped from your pockets on an alarmingly more and more frequent basis the number of contributing factors that can hit football and sport in general is bound to reach a tipping point.

I've seen (but don't know much about) this thing called dontpayuk which is something to do with getting them to put energy prices down. Like I said, I know not much about it, could be a bunch of nutcases for all I know but I have seen and heard them being mentioned quite often the past few days.

Sharing can cut some costs, my daughter & son in law have Sky Sport and I have BT sport as I have BT fibre etc.
We share log ins so I can watch games on Sky Go and they can watch on the BT sport app.
Sky is a ragbag company and you can't cast Sky Go from a tablet/phone onto a smart TV so have to use desk top computer & windows which isn't too bad with a very large monitor.
BT app is better as you can cast from a tablet onto smart TV or if you have a Samsung TV can download the BT Sport app direct and use it.

The cost of living crisis has certainly put more financial pressure on those who wish to consume the game. But it’s been a stupid amount of money for years now and we still find a way. The problem is that large proportions of the population are essentially football addicts and they’ve got us over a barrel. Alcoholics still find a way to get a drink no matter what it costs. The owners and people in power should be ashamed of themselves really. But they’re not.

I still think there will always be enough people with money to take over anyone that can’t afford it. I sometimes wonder how there are so many rich people in london that can afford £500k for a pretty basic house.

Am over from the US again this time to visit family. Been quite a surprise that groceries here are actually cheaper than in the US.

Everything else however from accommodation to travel and restaurants def more expensive. And don’t get me started on the gas, sorry petrol prices.

15 years ago now, but I remember filling a tank in the US for the equivalent of £20. And the cars over there have a lot of junk in the trunk.

Historically it has been one of the cheapest things in the UK. Unfortunately, due to Brexit/Covid related supply chain issues, the price is creeping upwards and catching up with everything else! :(

In the past two weeks I’ve tried getting tickets for a few live events - Spurs games included. All of them have sold out in very fast and the Spurs tickets were the cheapest of the events I looked at. Whilst I would eventually expect to see a downturn in demand for football match tickets, concerts, theatre etc, based on what I’ve seen in the last two weeks there are still plenty of people who feel they can afford spending £200 on a day out.

This is something that might creep up on the club, well, football in general.

What with the cost of going to a game being so disgracefully high, uncertainty even over travel these days, will it have an effect on the club? If it costs £100 to go to a game surely more and more people are going to swerve? I mean, if we can't afford to pay the bills, something has to give, right?

And then, even those who do go might cut back on what they spend in the stadium.

I think it's your ticket buying fan more than season ticket holders, who'll still go regardless (in many cases) and i'm sure there are many aspects yet to be touched on.

Could this become an issue or do people think football will be one of those things that gets away with it?

I was speaking to a mate of mine in Billericay last week - it was his 40th wedding anniversary and I was his best man that's why I rang him - known him for 60+ years and he told me that himself and most of our lifelong mates have now got the senior discount on their season tickets. Most of them have hardly missed a match home or away in 50 years, probably somewhere between 1500 & 2000 matches.
Pleased for them but me being abroad I'll hope to get to the new gaff one day for a dekko.

The flight from Melbourne for me now is becoming too expensive.

That, and the fact that if I left midnight prior to the game, when I arrive in London the game would be over. It makes the £1000 not worth it.

If I can’t get to a game I offer my ticket out free of charge, not that I’m well off and even getting 20 quid for the ticket would be a big difference. I’m happy to offer it because I know the difference it makes to another. Given the economic climate I feel the club could do more this season to help out it’s Fan base. Clubs have a powerful voice and a loyal fan base, they should be doing more to call out the issues people are facing, especially in an area like Tottenham.

For me it’s a 650 plus mile round trip the cost of living crisis this year has already made cut my games down to a max of one a month if that it’s just impossible to justify it to the mrs 120 quid a game for me it’s silly

I think Spurs do plenty for the community and get kicked in the teeth by the Council as a reward.
I want us spending money on the team as we're doing.
