Every season since I was 7 yrs old I expect us to never lose a game ?
So 1st same as last year and countless years before that.

Pfft realism is for pussies ?

It’s impossible to gauge tbf. Everyone has “strengthened” but who knows how Haaland will affect City? How Nunez will replace Mane?

It will come down to to squad buy in and belief and effort and… luck.

But I don’t think we’ve been in a better position to go hard for the title since 2016 when the only thing stopping us winning the title was… Antonio Conte

Voted winning the league. Don’t care how big the odds are, just feels like we’re finally in a position to make that push. If Leicester can do it then we can too.

Can’t believe I’m even saying that after the way we started last season ? What a turnaround.

You’re including 10 matches before Conte in your “20 points” comparison. They’re scarcely relevant.

Also, people are looking at our players based on how they performed before Conte got hold of them and as part of an unbalanced squad and a dissatisfied team. Many of them are not the same anymore, in terms of consistency and focus.

Most importantly, people are not accounting for the effect of teamwork and group solidarity.

it should be a lot tighter at the top this season, for all six big clubs and probably a couple of talented interlopers.
Agree it will be a lot tighter even with the Conte effect.

3rd. We'll close the gap on the top two but given the demands of the CL, I don't think our squad depth has yet reached the level required to sustain a title challenge and European football.

4th/5th

At this stage Arsenal have spent double than us nearly adding genuine quality , Chelsea have lost players but spent more , and man utd will improve

I’d be surprised if we even got close to the top 2

Like most, I've predicted 3rd, but I have a slightly annoying feeling in the back of my head, which is telling me we may have already signed too many players. Yes, I did say that. All these new additions are going to need time to acclimatise into their new surroundings, their new team-mates, and of course, their new manager and coaching staff.

I'm sure we've seen the same scenario happen for some clubs before where they've brought in too many new players and some of them have worked but not all of them, and even those who've worked have taken different lengths of time to do so.

It's just a little warning signal at the back of my head which I can't ignore. Let's hope to God, pretty soon, I can safely start to ignore it.

I know what you mean. I think there is a hope that they will adapt as quickly as Bentancur and Deki did.

Personally, I think we are being massively over-hyped right now. I know my opinion is being coloured by the pre-season we have had, but we have not looked brilliant in any of the three games thus far. Of the six signings we have made so far, only Perisic looks like he'll be starting against Southampton.

That was the best year I've ever seen us. We should have won the league. But, Conte ground out loads of 1-0s. We were amazing that year though

Of all our new signings the only player to have guaranteed to improve our starting 11 is Perisic, yet we are going to close a 25 point gap to City and Liverpool....it's not going to happen.

We need to be the best of the rest and hopefully close the gap to 15 points etc to go and again next season.

I certainly think we'll have a better season than last but will still b e 10 or 12 points adrift of Liverpool and City. It will take a lot more than we have in our squad to get close to them, unless they both have off seasons which is very unlikely. so it's going to be a battle between Arsenal, Chelsea and us. I would have added Utd but seeing as nobody wants to join them, it's unlikely. I think we'll finish a good 4th.
