I will be delighted with this one. I was a bit pissed off yesterday when I saw Chelsea in for Chukwuemeka thinking we should be snapping up some more future talent and here we are acting on it. Love that.

It’s good to see Paratici future proofing as well as looking at the here and now. Gil, Sarr, Spence and now potentially Udogie snapped up under him so far. No guarantees they all become world-beaters but securing top young talent before their prices explode is so necessary.

I'm torn, because this guy is a legitimately awesome looking prospect and I love the idea of future-looking deals.

But on the other hand, our window is NOW, with Kane and Son hitting 30 and Conte being here. No guarantee what the club looks like in 2024. I hope we have something else planned for this season. I would sell the kingdom for a trophy at this point.

It’d be irresponsible for them to not continue looking to talent for the future just because Kane and Son are closing in on 30. I don’t think this has any impact on signings for now, and I have no doubt we want to do more business this summer for this season.

I also get the feeling there's probably more of these young talent signings coming out it nowhere... Maybe even sesko.. Or maybe just wishful thinking

Signing good young players is never something we shouldn’t do. Regardless of whatever state or standard the squad is at.

I like the deal and I like the player but tbh I don’t really understand why we are after a LWB. Yes Perisic is 33 but you wouldn’t expect him to be gone next summer and Sessegnon is surely set to keep improving. Signing players for the future is always great but there are perhaps better areas to invest long term in.

I think conte knows sess isn’t going to be the kind of wingback he wants, not slating his quality but his attributes aren’t typical of conte wingbacks

I think it has been said all along by the ITK'S that should an opportunity come along that the club deem to good to turn down they will act. This is what a proper transfer policy looks like. If Sess improves and Perisic is still here and we also have the quality Udogie why the hell are you complaining.

How many times does it need to be said we need a quality squad and another positive that can be added is that Conte could be in this for the long haul if he has given the go ahead for the transfer providing we are definitely in for him.

I for one am of the opinion the more quality we bring in the better and the more forward thinking the better. So what if we have 3 quality options at LWB if the club are willing to finally do what the fans have been crying out for years of trying to build a squad capable of challenging for titles then bring it on.

I also think your point about it taking away from other areas won't happen when there finally seems to be a plan in place for what we need to do to progress and from what we've been hearing from the ITK'S it seems to be running throughout the club from top to bottom.

This.

We need to get into the mindset of ALWAYS improving the squad. That means that you may stack positions and let them fight for the role. That's the competitiveness Conte likes.

I doubt doing business for prospects has any bearing on whether or not we sign anyone for “the now.” Therefore, just think of this as a bonus so there are fewer emergency needs sometime in the future.

Perisic, Bissouma, Richarlison and Lenglet (even Forster) are all 25+. Most of our signings this window have been for the now. Nothing wrong with adding some young talent on top of that.

While it says he will be loaned back for the season, I'm wondering will we be able to recall him say mid season after the WC if we need fresh legs at that point? Wouldn't it be awesome to have our young prospects like him, Scarlett, Troy etc, recalled if necessary, to continue doing the jobs for us in peak condition from their game time and fitness at their loan clubs by then?
