Says everything about the club when a replacement for Conte is on the agenda.
Not defending the club here but it's an understandable thing to consider given his short term contract and his combustible nature. Of course, that is who he is, so it does raise the question of why you hire him in the first bloody place.

Son wasn't even top drawer when we bought him. No big club was in for him iirc, we were the biggest club chasing him.

When have we signed a top top talent who was covered by the massive clubs i.e Gvardiol, Bastoni. I can't remember any time.
The Lyon president pretended loads of big clubs wanted Ndombele whilst he was playing Levy

It’s not really about the transfer fee, it’s about wages and bonuses. That is where we cannot compete. And that is where the financially doped clubs will always beat us hands down. That then translates into titles, which becomes an even more compelling argument.

you say that but we have been very close at multiple times from being 2-3 players away from properly challenging

I would argue even now we are a reshaped defence away from challenging

frustrating thing is we’ve never looked to push on when in striking distance

most of us will be here until the bitter end but it’s clear as day that for the owners its about maximising profits over winning trophies regardless of what the other “doped” clubs are doing

I really don't understand why tieing him down to a contract is such a concern. When has contract length ever stopped us getting rid of managers and why would it stop managers leaving us if they got a better option?

It just stops the narrative that he is about to leave any minute

The football is dire and the politics is tedious, bring me the next Poch please and get us back to what made so many of us proud and happy to be a part of not so long ago, buying potential and developing superstars that play good attractive football the Spurs way.
Not half as tedious as people wanting football played the 'Spurs way' only to turn on the manager when he's "taken us as far as he can" or the results aren't there :D

He's not leaving in the middle of the season anyway, give him what he wants until he actually leaves. Don't see the issue, plus couple of solid available coaches have history of using back 3 formations. Whoever we get next will find use for the likes of Bentancur, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Bissouma etc. Maybe loan Gil instead of selling him. Not spending to stay in CL is costlier anyway, especially with new coefficient rules.

Spurs on the other hand; our scatter gun approach doesn’t suit the manager or the club. A sprinkle of club signings (Spence & Sarr) with a couple of manager lead signings (Perisic and Richarlison) and to complete the box of frogs, a couple of DoF signings Kulu and Benty. It’s confusing and doesn’t help the club steer in any particular direction.
But you could just as easily argue this is a balanced approach. Some for today, some for the future. Seems fine to me.

For me bringing Mourinho and Conte in was akin to putting lipstick on a pig.

We have no right to expect to win this league or to spend copious amounts of money trying to, I don't know or understand where this entitlement has emanated from and Conte must have known this when he was offered the job.

Now because he has chosen to take the job for whatever reasons supporters are expecting us to behave or operate in a different way. I believe a good blueprint was formed when Pocchettino led us as to how a club in our position and standing could actually compete with the financial juggernauts of Europe but for some odd reason Levy and the board decided to go down a completely alien route they were neither suited or built for.

Yeah lets just ditch the best manager we have had in decades because the football in your opinion is boring so we can all go back to not winning anything and never having much hope of doing so again.

I swear someone of you lot are addicted to outrage and drama. Especially when there are no matches to play. This world cup period has been really enlightening.

-First we had outrage there was apparently limited money to spend in Jan
-Then outrage that we signed Spence but Conte was never going to play him.
-Then outrage that Southgate carried on playing Kane when he got injured
-Now outrage at Levy (this is obviously always a constant)

I can't wait until the premier league starts again. Fuck all this conjecture.

I'm not calling for any sackings just compromise from both sides.

In my opinion I don't think Conte is the correct fit for a club such as ours.

I think the opposite is true. Until success on the pitch becomes number one priority i’d argue we will never be a correct fit for anyone.

Curious as to why? If we are to believe everything, then he is doing what he is doing with his hands tied and he has us doing rather well under the circumstances.

Ha ha I love the way that you mention entitlement and then say "bring me the next Poch" but there is certainly little point in having Conte if he isn't sufficiently backed. I wouldn't blame Conte for that though.

I am pretty sick of the constant threat hanging over us that Conte will leave. I want to see what exactly he can do and if its only if he has Citys squad then whats the point.

But what’s the point of giving Spence a 5 year deal if you have no plans on playing him for the first 3 years.

Arsenal in the same boat with Saliba. They signed him, loaned him out, realised he was the real deal and now are shitting themselves that he’s got 12 months left on his deal.

Surely signing players that the club chosen DoF recommends which aligns with the clubs philosophy is the way forward? DoF signs players that the club see’s fitting their model, and hires a manager who will get the best from these players.

The dog wags the tail.
