Honestly on about Antonio Conte, I don't believe it was a coincidence that the game was far different Vs Man City as it was to the one against Leicester. Really feels like while he was in Italy and while I know he will have input still his lack of presence around the squad seem to raise them a little in my opinion. First week back, first game back we get battered and he waits until the 74th minute to make an unforced substitution. Weirdly at this point he admits defeat and brings on Royal and Sanchez as part of the trio I think it was of subs. It was already to late for that but what was he watching for that 74 minutes? Why not bring on Richy? Danjuma? Royal can feel hard done by to be dropped after arguably he best 2 games at the club. Son has been pretty poor all season but it doesn't matter because Antonio Conte doesn't seem to want to drop him.

These things will all just cause rifts and splits in the dressing room, so you are right it'd be better to just call it a day and basically try and move on forward. However, one final thing is who do they want to appoint? If we know Antonio Conte is leaving, this means they knew and are likely look at potential targets.

I have seen and heard from multiple Journalists Mauricio Pochettino could be an option as Daniel Levy loves him and we know this it is public knowledge. So if it is him why not just bite the bullet and do it now? He won't cost a penny.

We wanted Marcelo Gallardo before and he is a free agent so maybe he could be an option? Again only have to sort Antonio Contes salary out and bring him in.

Maybe it could be another manager, someone employed and can't come until summer which could be true and could be one of the reasons for the club to wait also, players and team don't gain a lot from playing under Ryan Mason for the rest of the season so hold off and go from there eh?

I don't ultimately know but these all seem like reasonable points to me.
Im not sure we ever wanted Gallardo, well the fans have but I struggle to see Levy being interested. I certainly hope we look at him now he’s unattached. He’s said he doesn’t want to join a team mid season but I also wonder if that’s because the team asking was Leeds, maybe if our seat did become available early we could get him to change his mind. I just can’t see past Poch tho, unfortunately.

I might be in the minority, but if fans are interested in a more progressive, fast-flowing brand of attacking football, I'm not sure Frank is the answer? From what I've seen, Brentford are very effective but rely on slick attacking transitions and making the most of set-pieces. Sound familiar?
I agree. Brentford play a lot of long balls and then hassle the opponents defence for a quick turnover. As you say they rely a lot on set pieces. They have had good results playing this way and fair play to them, but people who want to see good attacking football will be disappointed

Given this seems to be an open secret I can only assume that the club has a coach lined up who's happy to play wing backs. Otherwise spending all that time and effort on Porro was very odd indeed.
I wouldn’t read too much into that at all.

He was pretty good defensively against us, so he could play the bombing on fullback role ala Walker, but I reckon he could also be played further up the pitch in a rotation role for Deki.

Unfortunately I don't think it's unlikely at all.

Certain players in the current squad will have outlasted 4 managers when they should have been sold once manager number 1 was gone.
I get what you’re saying but I don’t think it’s lack of effort in trying to sell them it’s just that nobody wants to buy them, after covid europe was skint. GLC has been at Villarreal for 2 years, TN has been away for 2 years, winks 1 year.
Can’t recall on GLC but the others left with options to buy in their deals, to me that’s not what you do if you want them back at the club.

We've historically had a huge issue in selling players as Levy has demanded too much for them which has ultimately cost us so much more money then actually accepting what the market is willing to pay.

You are 100% right re market now in Europe and will be like that for a long time. Premier League is a complete outlier, everywhere else teams are skint and won't pay decent transfer fees plus match wages that our castoffs are on.

You can't rule it out that the team was suddenly set free in his absence, but I think it was indeed just purely coincidence. It was a "big game" the players knew they had to be up for, and that with the way City play it suited pure ConteBall style - defend deep in number, tight defensive lines, game played at a comfortable tempo, and plenty of space to (counter) attack into.

Problem is in the majority of other games, where we have to be more progressive and push up the pitch to impose ourselves, the system doesn't look like functioning. We lose any defensive balance and solidity, and with the ball in the opponents half tasked with breaking them down we're reduced to hoofs, crosses, and set pieces.

Edit: With the news this morning will arguably be more interesting to see Stellini and co. in a game where you'd assume we have to be more proactive and positive. If we get a more ambitious, more vibrant, less rigid display then that would be telling.

the main issue we've had selling is because we've bought substandard players at ridiculously inflated prices, miles over what the players were actually worth.

I think the wages are the issue.

I'm sure we could swap GLC for Danjuma or maybe a Pau Torres if we still like him but I bet they wouldn't be able to get anywhere near their wages.

Same with an N'dombele, we could maybe take a hit on the fee but nobody is giving him those wages.

You're absolutely right PSG is a shit show with a manager who has a few months left on his contract and refuses to say whether he will stay on, their managing director of football has been banned for 30 months in his home country which is likely to extended to worldwide & is being investigated for financial fraud which could well lead to jail time and the clubs record scorer and arguably one of the clubs best ever players has only 16 months left on contract......

No hold on .....
Literally spat my coffee out. Thankyou, I really needed that giggle.

Could do with a new manager bounce for the weekend. Sunday will be painful otherwise.
We will win, Kane will score from a ridiculous angle/distance, a goal only he can score and even though we played shitter than a shit thing trying to be shit the noise will die down and then we will get schooled against Chelsea and the groaning will pick up. Rinse and repeat.

The most worrying thing about this latest potential development is that we now have the possibility of 18 more months of Dier, Davies, Sanchez etc. I can't wait!! ;)
I believe Dier and Davies were part of the "painful rebuild" that Poch wanted before his demise...

Can't believe he (if he were to come in) would look at them now and think "yeah they've improved"

?

Poch will do what Danny boy tells him to do as will any other prospective coach.

Dier/Davies would struggle even more in a back-four.

Fabrizio Romano said we were inerested in Gallardo but he was loyal to River until season finished and he won league.

But I agree, it would be a gamble and Levy wouldn't take the risk.

You are 100% on the money here. Not going back to find it and can't remember where I posted it but I think before we appointed Conte and Poch was being heavily linked, I posted on here which was very solid info that PSG was a shitshow and that Poch was incredibly unhappy at the club due to how toxic it was. Would like to find the post but haven't got the time.
That was cause him and Leonardo didn't get along.
