The past means nothing. This is a message for life

“Where we’re at as a club, we should be winning trophies,” Kane said. “The top four [being the only target] is a consequence of not playing as well as we want to play. For sure, it’s not enough for this club. I totally understand the fans’ frustration. Top four [alone] is not good enough for anyone at this club, especially the fans. They have the right to voice their opinion.

“The last week especially just hasn’t been good enough. Before the Sheffield United game, the season could have been a whole lot different. You go through there, you take that momentum into the league game and this game [against Milan]. But I feel like that loss last week put a dagger in our hearts and as you can see we haven’t really recovered from that.”

Spot on. Compare that to conte's draining post match conference, saying we are a failing euro conference team when he found us.

Levy will listen to kane and he sounds furious - conte is toast.

Rather than sell him this summer, I'd prefer that we kept him another season and helped the new coach/team and see if we can get some upturn in fortunes that may (very unlikely) convince him to stay.

I'd roll that dice.

That's because he's genuinely world class, and it shows.
But your literal post above was that he checked out after his 268. He showed his class, worth and determination yesterday, its not his fault he is surrounded by underperforming players. Sadly he can either score goals, but assisted by others or try and create goals scored by others but cant do both.

Levy won't. Levy doesn't take risks.

We have had six forwards/wingers at the club to play with Kane this season:

Son
Kulusevski
Richarlison
Lucas
Gil
Danjuma

In 30 out of 38 games we've played in all competitions this season - none of them have scored.

We'd be in big big trouble without him

I would say that’s more a reflection on the management than anything else. In that list you have last seasons golden boot winner, Brazils number 9 and a player that starred getting his team to the cl semi.

Yeah, good shout, depends how he feels obviously but I think he's earnt the right to decide, Levy obviously won't honour anything on a human level, but we could miraculously hire someone Harry gets on board with for another year.

Sorry Harry. But blah blah blah. He seems to be absolving himself of some of the blame.

Or he could make it public, invest in the team properly or he will leave, pressure Levy publicly, leave him no where to hide.

I think we'll look back on our trophyless decade or so with arguably our greatest ever player/goalscorer with a feeling of sadness and regret. And that's the worst feeling. Can't help but think that Harry will have departed from the positive feeling of signing any new deal now or in the summer. How can Levy look him in the eye and tell him to be patient for yet another project?

I just hope his love for Spurs outweighs those sour feelings and he decides to stay.

this is what I’ve been saying for ages too. It’s also why I’m still disappointed in his actions during the Nuno summer, if he gave an ultimatum to the ownership to stop being the cheapskates and properly invest into the football side with a public announcement then I honestly wouldn’t have been as upset should he have subsequently left. He needs to do that this time around so that the fence-sitters, or worse ENIC-in brigade, finally wake up and smell the coffee so all of the fans can make it as uncomfortable as possible for them until they fuck off.

Yup. Levy has a lot to answer for

I've never been entirely convinced by the argument that the modern day player, earning millions each season, will look back at an empty mantlepiece with regret. The vast majority never win a thing. So long as they are properly recompensed by their employer they'll be happy.

I think Harry is off in summer & I also think he really wanted to win a cup with us this year to leave on a high. Hence his frustration showing in these comments.
