When was the last player manager in a top job do you reckon? One for the pub quizzers.
Couple caretakers: Ben Mee at Burnley last year, I think Giggs was at United, but solo I'd have to guess Vialli? When was the last player manager in a top job do you reckon? One for the pub quizzers.
Shouldn’t this be a factor though? We need to know that the club can afford and attract the right players for how the manager wants to operate. This should absolutely be part of the conversation. From Paratici's selection of the manager options, I'm almost getting the feeling that he is basing on what players he could get easily to suit them instead.
Enrique plays the football that we want. The problem with him is our squad needs a lot of work to do it his way.FP has been brilliant behind the scenes with the youth set up, he's brought in some fantastic players and has also secured top talent such as Sarr and Udogie when a lot of top clubs wanted those players.
However, his managerial targets are somewhat worrying. Spoke to my source early this morning and was given a few more names to add to the two I've consistently mentioned (Tuchel & Enrique). The problem lies where FP has drawn up a list of potential managers, most of which don't play the kind of football Levy (supposedly) and us fans would like to see.
Again, it's all a bit messy where there are too many people involved in the process. It's highly likely FP won't even be here in 6 months time with everything going on so it's just a bit of a mess again.
There are so many problems behind the scenes, it sadly doesn't really matter who comes in as the new manager.
I'll also repeat what I already said last week, Poch would of course love to come back, but I'm told he has his sights firmly set on Madrid currently and there are too many people behind the scenes who would need convincing that bringing him back right now is the right thing to do.

Yeah not saying Levy's good. More that Paratici's picks have been catastrophically shit.Levy has brought in 13 managers during his 22 years and of that 13 only one of them was given a contract extension. That's a fair old list of bringing in duds and/or pulling the trigger too early. I certainly don't trust his judgement on the matter.

our squad needs a lot of work to play football regardless the style of playing...Enrique plays the football that we want. The problem with him is our squad needs a lot of work to do it his way.
Sad times indeed. Given Levy’s longevity it’s unbelievable that such a lack of clarity and identity about almost anything resides within the club. From the board, to the manager and including our best player there is not a single element you could say with confidence is going to be around in six months time.FP has been brilliant behind the scenes with the youth set up, he's brought in some fantastic players and has also secured top talent such as Sarr and Udogie when a lot of top clubs wanted those players.

At this point his position is completely untenable. There's zero chance he stays.Conte isn’t going to go is he?
Have to say I’m so shocked that he has made it to Thursday. Thought he’d have been gone a n Sunday
enrique has benefited from managing two established football systems, who really knows how he even managesEnrique plays the football that we want. The problem with him is our squad needs a lot of work to do it his way.
Always been my biggest issue with Paratici even when he was at Juve, fantastic talent scout but he’s not good at picking a manager. Really tho, I don’t understand why he’s even involved if he’s likely off. I can understand maybe consulting him but he really shouldn’t be involved in the final choice.FP has been brilliant behind the scenes with the youth set up, he's brought in some fantastic players and has also secured top talent such as Sarr and Udogie when a lot of top clubs wanted those players.

I suppose the fact that managers like Frank and Glasner are both very fond of playing with a back 3 does at least show there's some thought behind those potential appointments, even if they wouldn't be popular picks among the fans.Shouldn’t this be a factor though? We need to know that the club can afford and attract the right players for how the manager wants to operate. This should absolutely be part of the conversation.
Look what happened with Conte, he’s failed for a number of different reasons, but a big one is our inability to get the players that he wants/needs.
I want an attacking manager, but I’m not going to throw a wobbly because someone at the club is drawing up a list of options with appropriate players to target etc. That’s his job.
People need to remember what it’s like when Paratici goes for a player, or what it was like last time we had a manager search. We have heard time and time again how he likes to line up a number of different options and see which one sticks.
At this stage I’d not get too hung up about the names we are hearing from ITKs, or in the press. I very much doubt we are ready to pull the trigger yet.
I reckon that’s more because Levy and the board don’t know what to do afterwards. They would probably prefer to have another manager lined up first as they have big doubts over Mason getting top 4.Conte isn’t going to go is he?

He's being punished by being kept in the job. Sisyphus didn't know how good he had it.Conte isn’t going to go is he?
