Using de Zerbi/Barber is a good idea but man, I wish top six clubs would develop ways to win rather than cannibalising any club that dares to overachieve. I know there's always been bigger fish but if I was a Brighton fan, that happening twice in eight months would make me wonder what the point is.

I agree. He's a bloody awful judge of a manager. Jol was forced on him when Santini didn't work and Poch he was pressured into by the Lewis family if rumours are to be believed. With that in mind, he's not picked one manager that's worked

My take is that we want to have everyting in place before he is kicked. If we are looking for a new manager to come in now it explains the delay, if it was Mason nailed on to caretake then it would have been done by now. Its more likely we want to sack Conte and then announce the new guy.

Yeah I feel you on that. Personally I’ve completely given up on the Gallardo dream, he is by far my most wanted but deep down I know Levy doesn’t remotely have the vision to go for him regardless how suited he is. When I start reading names like Marco Silver, Conceição, Frank, Glasner etc along with phrases like “PL proven” I completely loose all hope. Not that they are necessarily bad managers but tactically they just aren’t remotely the right fit.
Thing is, considering the catastrophic search of 21 where we had a lot of time and ended up with Nuno I think this will ultimately end with Mason in charge whilst the board bumble around until summer. Everything we hear is that they weren’t planning for his departure so the idea they can come to some unanimous decision in the space of two weeks and that choice actually be a good one is extremely extremely unrealistic.

You could argue logic behind them all though: compare to Newcastle hiring McClaren/Bruce or Everton hiring Benitez. Whilst I don't like his style of play, long balls to Ivan Toney and long throws etc, I don't know if he is capable of coaching a more possession passing based approach but their 4-3-3 with Benhrama Watkins etc in the championship was very nice at times, however one box his does tick in a massive way is that he is a very likeable positive character and I think our club and players and fans would hugely benefit from that, he builds people up, he's brave, he gives belief etc etc and he works on a tight budget.
Absolutely not one of my top choices but if it was him if he was able to coach a better style of football then that aside he could actually be a very very good fit.

Personally I thought Jose, Nuno and Conte were all poor fits with where and what we are as a club. Everyone was sick of project managers at the time but that's what I thought we needed with a new DoF and access to better quality players because of increased stadium revenue
