Worth noting that we have only underachieved in the cups, we haven't in the league.

In 126 years, we have finished in the top 5 of the top league 29 times and 12 of those are in the 20 years under ENIC. For perspective, our most successful 20 year league period ever is 1950 to 1970, where we won the league our only 2 times but we still only finished in the top 5 11 times.

We just need to break through that glass ceiling to get a few of those finals and title races over the line.
I like the positivity/perspective you bring to this thread to be fair. 👏

No but reading between the lines it’s exactly what he meant.
I think that's quite a stretch personally. He hasn't managed club football for 4 or 5 years and had a solid if unspectacular time as a NT manager. There's absolutely no way he'd turn us down.

We are a mess and seem to have no plan but I can’t emphasise enough how much of a difference the right manager who is the right fit for our club, our DNA and our project would make in terms of the feeling amongst the fans going from negative to positive.

The decision on who the manager will be won’t solve all of our issues whilst Levy remains but the right manager can alleviate or mitigate a good 80% of those issues just like Poch did for 5years.

There is so much riding on this decision 🙏 in terms of what the mood and trajectory of the club will be over the next few years.

It’s not underperformance though is it - we’ve made top 4 the be all end all to the point that we rest players in the cup in order to stay fresh for the Prem games - we treat them like a second tier competition
We definitely do but everyone treats them like a second tier competition because they are a second tier competition.

The final is a different story. Maybe semis too. But till then they're just a chance to rest players and give fringe players some minutes. Even non PL teams are increasingly resting players now!

No idea of veracity, but they're putting it forward as an exclusive🤷‍♂️

Doubt he'd be a leading candidate like they say, but wouldn't surprise me if he's on the list somewhere.

Not sure about that, we have made the same amount of finals in the league cup under ENIC as we had in the rest of our history.

In the FA Cup we have generally been knocked out by the better team (with exceptions like the atrocious loss to 10 Man City when we were 3-0 up and semi final loss to Portsmouth), however that does appear to have changed from and inc the 18/19 season, but I think it is more under estimating our opponents.

I doubt it’s a shock to anyone here. Our search thus far has been putting “football manager “ into the LinkedIn search bar and levy hitting return.

We’ve been knocked out by Boro, Norwich and Sheff U the last 3 years

The really damning one is the Europa where we’ve made 1 QF in ENIC’s time but made the CL QF 3 times - it’s a clear strategy

The content doesn't match the "shock leading contender" headline. It just says he would be interested, Levy has been impressed and we are putting together a short list, probably all true but reads a guess work to me.

That attitude has served us no good. Did you see the side Pep picked for the home game against Bristol City despite it being a Champions League week.

if we’re not good enough to rotate and win - and we definitely haven’t been then there are two solutions

1. don’t rotate
2. Build a squad good enough to rotate and win

We’ve done neither and this are potless
