If our top target is Slot, there is no way Levy is reacting tonight and just employing someone out of work.

Going to be a tough watch these next 9 games unfortunately.
Hopefully Slot isn't the top choice and we get a manager in ASAP.

Looking for other opinions on this but the fact that there are tweets/articles/links that Nagelsmann would prefer Chelsea to us lead me to prefer that he not be the next coach. I acknowledge that most options would probably prefer that job but we need somebody who wants to be at Tottenham, isn't settling to be there and willing to put their stamp on the club and become the club. Tottenham need a coach/manager who will not only create the style and mentality but also serve as the face of the club whereas a club like Chelsea just need someone who can simply do the job well. It's a different job description and responsibility.
On this, just because Nagelsmann would prefer to go to Chelsea doesn't mean he we wouldn't want to be at Spurs if he did end up getting the job. Let's say we appoint Thomas Frank - he's never gonna act like he's too big for Spurs because he quite obviously isn't. Yet, he might hypothetically prefer to join Chelsea or Liverpool over us.

I keep seeing this, but all most fans want is a progressive coach who will get us playing on the front foot and with some passion. Sure, in one or two seasons' time, the expectations may rise again if we are doing ok, but right now, most fans want to enjoy watching the team play some decent football.

That's not a lot to ask for. We don't need a miracle worker to accomplish that. Anyone who thinks so has been listening to Conte too much.

And yet, you wind the clock back to when Mourinho was appointed and loads were saying they'd put up with any old shit if we won a trophy. I know we didn't win a trophy, but if you're happy to put up with any old shit you've been getting what you deserved for the past few seasons.

Exactly fans saying "why would he join this mess" are just letting their own doom and gloom outlook cloud all logic.

Of course De Zerbi would join us. Brighton don't have the infrastructure to be a consistent top 4 team, challenging for trophies. Everyone is riding their dick at the moment because they are their long term strategy has a bore fruit. Problem is with their strategy is that it will eventually fail as their scouting and recruitment won't be able to keep pace with the rate at which their talents get inevitably poached by bigger clubs. It's exactly what has happened to Leicester and Southampton - who were both put up as models the rest of us should follow.

We don't have any of those problems. If De Zerbi has any balls he will see the opportunity to truly mix it with the big boys. We have a talented squad (which is currently isn't showing it's true potential) it just needs to some key additions and a coach that can breath some energy and attacking flair into it.
Exactly.

Two years ago loads were saying Rodgers would not come to us.

I disagreed because Rodgers would know that Leicester have a ceiling and it may not take long for things to go wrong. Which has been the case.

Same at Spurs. Poch probably would have jumped to United had timing been better for him - if Solskjaer hadn't kept finding good form.

Agree with the sentiment, the self deprecation from some of our fans is tiresome. But I genuinely think there's a fair chance he turns us down this summer. I'd say its 50/50 that we even finish above them this season, considering Brighton only hired him in October I'd be unsurprised if he wanted to give them next season particularly if they get Europe. He can wait for a big managerial vacancy in Italy (Juve, Inter?) or another top 6 job to come along (shouldn't take long).
All reliable journos said Chelsea isn't interested in him and in reality that's the only other top6 job available in close future, big clubs from Italy outside of Napoli who won't be changing manager are in worse situation than Spurs

Because Poch refused the alternatives to the players he wanted which were out of our reach. It was reported at the time and confirmed by ITK. So funny how people argue these things whilst leaving out the other arguments that don't support their claim (both sides do this). Confirmation bias.

Anyway I don't know why we are having that conversation again. Poch is gone. We aren't privy to the talks that went on behind the scenes.

I've come around to Slot but am praying each day we get a solid link for Gallardo.
Maybe The alternatives he was was offered weren’t going to improve or compete with the first 11?

Why?

Jose, panic appointment = gone in 18 months.
Nuno = panic appointment cause we had little options left = gone in 6 months
Conte = panic appointment = gone in 18 months.

This club CANNOT keep reacting. We need to really consider where we want to go.

We need to suck it up in the short term and hope the club pull the finger out an appointment the right person.

Plenty good candidates, hopefully JN for me but other options are good.

Hopefully not Kompany, Rodgers, Potter or Frank however.

I don't think we are that attractive really. They know they have to work with levy and that the job has high expectations to compete with teams who will outspend you. Yeah the training ground is nice but that isn't the main thing

Romano also earlier said: “Nagelsmann, 100% open to discuss about Chelsea project.” And that contact had started between them 2 days ago.

If he takes the job, fuck him. We were led to believe he wanted to take his time to evaluate things when we sounded him out, but if Chelsea’s urgency gets him to throw that intention out the window then he’s not a man of principles/integrity - in that case it would be nice if his career takes a complete nose dive and he never recovers.

Nah that's BS. Conte took us when we were in a far worse position from a squad point of view. And fine, Man City, United and Chelsea are out spending us, that's never going to change. But we are spending at the same level with arsenal and over Liverpool consistently. And the expectation is always top 4 not the title.

A series of 3 past it managers have taken us to this toxic place but all that Levy has to do is get the right person in and back them the same way he did with Conte. That's more than enough to do get the fans and the club together and rebuild.
