I'd take Gomes' "dodgy on crosses" any day of the week over someone like Robinson, who'll stay on his line. You know what you get with Gomes. He rarely catches crosses, but he very rarely doesn't get them away to safety. The defenders know exactly what he's going to do.
Call it what you want, but Gomes is a great keeper, and that includes his commanding of the area.
Here here, much as it is natural to want to slate players who miss in these circumstances, you have to respect the fact that they had the bottle to step up and do so.
Its a frustrating way to go out, but I for one am proud of the lads and look forward to a strong finish to the season and glorious year next season.
We already have our first trophy for the best part of a decade and have made Uefa cup qualification for 3 years straight (unthinkable only a short while ago).
Now we need to focus on keeping our better players and bringing in the right players to complete our squad and look forward not backwards on tonights misfortune (we did well and were simply unlucky)

Im not being scarcastic this is a genuine question, but are you basing this assement on the two games against us or have you watched him in greater detail over a longer period of time?
Yeah right.
I particularly liked it when he decided to control a cross with his chest, and the ball rebounded 5 yards in front of him to the amazement of his defence and luckily enough for him Keane.
Players like Maradona, Platini, Zico and Van Basten missed penalties in the biggest tournaments. It's stupid to blame Jenas or Chimbo.

My tuppence worth:
Played well enough to win without the need for penalties. That said to much forward momentum was lost either through poor decision making or players running up blind alleys. Could have created a few more chances. We didn't really look troubled at the back.
Thought Zokora, did really well. Hudd too and Malbranque, although both were guilty of sloppy passing at times. Jenas was non existent again in a big game (sorry but i think it so), Keane spent too much time gesticulating rather than getting on with it. Berbatov did well but a lot of things were not working for him tonight. Don't understand why most of our players kept slipping over though. Lennon injected pace but kept running up blind alleys. Bent.... i feel sorry for but he plays like he is intimidated or scared of being himself. Robbo had a decent game, but he never really got near any of the other penalties (apart from the one he saved).
So near. After the highs of wembley, this is back to earth with a bang. That said PSV are a CL team and they never really beat us. They needed penalties.
So fucked off. Just feels like a typical THFC story at the moment. Hopefully soon our stories will be different.

Chris, sorry, but that's cock.
I disagree. How can his 'commanding of the area' be great if he struggles on crosses. Its strange because he is a big tall keeper, you would expect him to catch the ball with ease.
