Not sure if new news but this is what our beloved VDV had to say on the matter:

Former Spurs Rafael Van Der Vaart speaking to Studio Voetbal on Arne Slot:

"I do know Tottenham really wants him. They asked what I thought of him. You know what I think of him, he squeezed out the maximum, Feyenoord is so stable. Even today, after they found out and partied all week.”

Van Der Vaart goes on to admit he gave Spurs a ‘green light’ to pursue the Feyenoord coach:

"Very green light. Tottenham is a club I have been in for two years and I have a good relationship with it. They just miss a good coach and a coach who plays the fun football Tottenham always stood for.”
Incredible that VDV understands our DNA better than some of our leadership team.

Couple of articles on Slot this morning:

Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard is following what most said yesterday about a crunch meeting between Slot and Feyenoord planned for tomorrow. He claims Feyenoord could look for compensation over £12 million.

AD, a leading Dutch sports source have said Feyenoord will play hardball in negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur about a possible move of coach Arne Slot to London, and is looking for a 'Nagelsmann-like transfer fee' (~25 million euros).

De Volkskrant journalist Bert Wagendorp says Feyenoord are set to earn ‘tens of millions’ not only through Slot’s departure but also from Kökçü’s sale to Tottenham.
He claims Spurs ‘will come with an offer this week’ for both the manager and the 22-year-old midfielder.
Sounds like our type of deal. Get the manager compensation covered together with a player signing at the same time.

he'd get eaten alive in the Prem and the drop off from Kane to him would be absolutely colossal compared to, say, a Toney or a Watkins (which would still be pretty big).
Yes if we keep looking back at Kane's fabulous time with us and compare other poss strikers, obv no one will compare.

Thing is..in my probably unrealistic dream...we are a front foot pressing team, like many other Prem outfits. Slot who's success was recently based on moulding a load of new young enthusiastic players at the start of last season, has purchased for less than absurd money a load of young, energetic players for us.

Kane and Son have gone, we are a different, Slot moulded team, unrecognisable from today. We press together, defend together . Talk of single main strikers getting our goals will disappear as many of our other players involved in our front-foot attacking team score too.

Its a fantasy and a complete change, but this is what we're getting managerwise (if Slot) and is his MO.

Leave our old lags in situ and what makes anyone think Slot can motivate them to do his bidding when so many highly qualified managers have failed ?

Just watched the Feyenoord highlights at the weekends and can see how they love attacking wingers coming inside, lots of one twos and clever runs.

I can see Sonny flourishing, Kulu too but I'd worry about Richarlison. Unless Slot rotates him with Kane I don't think he looks suited to that type of wingplay.

What an atmosphere but the way. There is one shot after a goal where this man Is just crying his eyes out Into his scarf as his mate kisses him on the head. Pure joy in his eyes.

Yeah of course no-one will compare to Kane but I just don't think Giminez looks good enough for the top end of the PL whether we're a pressing team or not. Regardless of our style of play, we ideally want a good player to replace Kane, even if we're all safe in the knowledge they can't be anything but a big step down.

It's why I mentioned Toney and Watkins. 2 players that would obviously still be a step down but are the type of player I think we're probably aiming at. Watkins especially is a monster off the ball and a decent all round player, even if his finishing is inconsistent (although we'd never get him off Villa now, sadly).

But yeah, going back to Slot, if we get him I agree the long term aim would be to develop into more of a coherent, pressing, attacking unit rather than just relying on Kane's brilliance and Son's finishing.

I'm happy to bang the slot drum now purely for what might be and what could happen.

Fact is we know De Zerbis team plays great football and is competing above the sum of its parts. If it was possible I'd take him but only because Ive seen it first hand.

Slot is the unknown but I'm excited now to see what happens.
Yeah exactly. If Slot is appointed than I will be a Slut for Slot

Slot has a £5m release clause in his contract but it is not possible to activate it until next summer. Feyenoord, having just become Dutch champions, don’t want him to leave and it is likely agreement will only be reached if Tottenham behave respectfully and pay more than £10m in compensation.

That’s us fucked then!!! 😂

I don't ever want a new manager that "needs to be backed to win now". That is short sighted and we are not going to get the ready made players to win in this manner.

Would rather have someone willing to build and then refresh the squad with youth. Teach a system that relies on quick passing and movement and then have the club sign players that fit that system.

The manager needs to fit the club, not the other way around. For me, Slot is the guy that fits.

I think we are 2 years from competing for top 4 becausecof all the roster tounover that is needed, but I am fine with that if we are rebuilding in the right way.

It looks like we may have some youth that can play, we need to find out. Let's get talent back in the club and then the new manager will have a chance to build something.

So i dont really know the law but is there anything to stop him just resigning? Would the contract state that he couldnt do another job until the contract runs out even if he resigns?

Presumably they stick a non-compete clause in these things these days.
