I'm pretty calm about it all to be honest. I fully expect him to be here for next season and to leave next summer on a free and i, for one, will applaud him and say thank you for everything i hope he agrees a ludicrously big deal and goes on to win a bag full of trophies.

My United supporting mates are already speaking as if Kane to United would be a formality.

United won't spend big now, especially with the takeover potentially hitting halters.

Not only that but united aren't the club they were 10 years ago. I do believe Kane would prefer other options.....but there isn't many
How many years has this been a "formality" though? Pretty sure it was the case for the majority of Poch's time (as Poch was also linked with that job pretty often).

Without being ridiculously optimistic, I hope that he can be convinced during the course of the season that it’s worth staying.
sadly if that isn’t the case I can only hope he goes abroad.
I don’t want to see him lifting trophies in another shirt in the PL

That is true but it is hard to see us adequately replacing him unless serious money is spent. He would probably require at least two quality players to replace and I can easily see us slide down the table to around 9th, 10th or 11th if we don't get these (maybe Levy wouldn't be too worried about this).
That's not far to slide from the 8th we are this year.

Harry Kane costs 115 million

Tottenham sets a price for the striker's departure, who has one more year left on his contract. He prefers to sell it to a foreign club before he continues in the Premier.

Real Madrid continues to assess the options it has to reinforce the position of 'nine'. To do this, he manages two paths: one, to sign a renowned striker, who will surely cost a sum of three figures (this, especially if Benzema ends up going to Arabia), and two, to bring in a man of less value (because he is young or because he is in the last years of his career, in the case of Joselu) that can serve as a hinge until the summer of 2024, when Haaland and Mbappé will be within range. For the first option, only in the event that Benzema's departure is consummated, three names are mainly being considered. They are those of Harry Kane (29 years old), Vlahovic (23) and Gonçalo Ramos (21). In the last hours one more has joined, Firmino (31) who ends his contract with Liverpool. And among all of them it is Harry Kane, as reported by AS, the favorite of the coaching staff.

At this point, Real Madrid already knows what Harry Kane costs. Tottenham has valued it (sliding the news in the local London press) at 100 million pounds (115 million euros). The entity 'Spur', moreover, prefers to sell the striker to a foreign club, not reinforce one of the Premier, and in this sense, Bayern Munich is Real Madrid's great rival.

Harry Kane is one of the main players for the upcoming market. He is in the prime of his career, but there are already several summers that he has threatened to leave Tottenham and, according to what they say from his environment, in this one he has already made the decision to leave it. However, it is not expected that the player will take a position of strength or that he will end up requesting the transfer request. This is what is called in the Premier a kind of unwritten law according to which the club must facilitate the departure of a player who publicly exposes himself to his fans saying that he wants to leave the entity. This was the path that Harry Kane took in 2021 when Chelsea and Manchester City fought over his signing. So, the Englishman was 27 years old and had three left on his contract...City left him in the lurch: his offer was left at 75 million pounds plus 25 in variables, far from the 200 million pounds that Tottenham was asking for to let the captain of the English team go.

This summer, now, the perfect storm has broken out that could end with Harry Kane out of Tottenham. First, the player wants to leave. This is essential. Secondly, the club is mired in an extraordinary institutional lack of definition, with a sports director, Fabio Paratici, who points to the exit door. Finally, Tottenham has not qualified to play European competition next season. It has been eighth. He did not achieve it despite the victory against Leeds on the last day with a double from Kane. The Spurs have not stopped playing in Europe (either in the Champions League, the Europa League or the Confence League) since the 2009-10 campaign.

What is still not so clear is if Harry Kane wants to leave the Premier. Those who know him well affirm that he is between eyebrows to achieve a historic event, surpass the 260 goals that Alan Shearer managed to score in the Premier. Kane now has 211 marked in 319 games. He needs at least two more seasons to beat him.

At Real Madrid, this operation is not viewed with bad eyes. It is something similar to what was done with Hazard, who came from Chelsea for 100 million euros plus 40 for goals. In the case of the Englishman, he is a safe bet: he is, as was the case with Cristiano, obsessed with physical condition and nutritional care, which will allow him to extend his career well into his 30s. And he has the endorsement of the Madrid coaching staff.

His arrival will affect Haaland's

The signing of a top-level striker, such as Harry Kane, conditions future operations at Real Madrid. Especially Haaland's. With Kane in the squad, the signing of the Norwegian is ruled out and Madrid will focus on Mbappé. Both Mbappé and Haaland will get within range in 2024. The Frenchman because he is free and the Norwegian because at that time a clause will be activated that allows him to leave City for 220 million euros. On the other hand, if Madrid signs a striker like Vlahovic (with a better profile of being able to be on the bench without being a problem), the Haaland operation would not be affected in the slightest.

Athletic join Gary Neville by not having Harry in their team of the season.

All these years later it still baffles me how disrespected Kane is in England.

30 league goals. Should be in every team of the season up front with Haaland or behind him.

Always hated for some reason. Boggles the mind.

I don't think letting him run down his contract is viable.

It would overshadow all of next season.

Contract extension or sell.

In Harry's case I disagree. He is the exception to the rule. If we can agree a new contract, great. Of course. If not then I'm more than happy to take a final year of his brilliance knowing very clearly that he is finished at the end of his contract.
Coupled with the fact we didn’t actually pay anything for him, it’s not like we’ve got to try and claw back yet another transfer fee….
Think the guy has served his time, if he wants to stay that’d be amazing if not I think it’d be really poor form to try and chase a fee for him this summer if he wants to see out his contract after everything he’s given us.

If I’m in charge I’d get Kane and Madrid to the table to propose something outside the box.

Kane is a £100m+ player, even with 1 year left on his contract. However, Madrid don’t want to tie their hands for summer 2024 when possibly mbappe and haaland are on the market. Well, any team that would try to sign Kane this summer would tie him down to a 4/5 year deal and straight-line amortise the transfer fee over that term. That’s £25m a season. So we tell Madrid they can sign him on loan for a season for £25m on the condition he signs a 2 year extension with us so that we have him back in summer 2024 in this exact same scenario we are in now but with Kane 1 year older, hopefully a couple of trophies distinguished, and satisfied enough to want to finish his career here with the PL scoring title in his sights. That gives Madrid the flexibility they crave, the trophies Kane craves, and us the avoidance of heartache we crave (because he wouldn’t be competing against us domestically with one of our PL rivals). If summer 2024 comes around and Madrid find that they are happy with Kane and Kane is happy there, they can send us the other £75m and make it a permanent deal. He gives up the PL scoring title that way, or maybe there can be some further structure added to the deal whereby he stays another season if all parties agree and Madrid pay another £25m and we can trigger another year on his contract. That could even be made perpetual and you rework the loan fees so that they’re done in a way to front-load them rather than on the basis of straight-line amortisation to recognise his best/valuable years will be the first 2 years rather than the latter 2 years (e.g. year 1 loan fee is more than what the year 3 loan fee might be).

Admittedly, it’s not the best outcome for us but I honestly think it’s better than seeing him wear another PL team’s colours. We also don’t have much leverage like we had in summer 2021, so it’s not like we could say to Kane if you sign a 5 year deal we will let you go to Madrid for 1 season only to fill your boots and then you’re back with us for the rest of those 5 years.

I think there is a higher chance of him staying than going to Madrid
I agree. If we are being realistic city have got the premier league sorted for years to come. So his choices are abroad and don’t break record. Stay here and break record but not win the premier league. That leaves a choice stay here (spurs) or go to a prem club. Sign a one year extension with us or tie yourself to a 3 yr deal or more with Utd say. The latter gives him less chance of a payday. I think he will wait till December to make a decision

The Athletic employs a lot of football hipsters who like to pick in-vogue players. I remember when many of their writers said Salisu is the next great thing. This time it’s Estipunan. Yeah, he’s been good but better than Shaw or Zinchenko? They also picked Rashford, who is obviously a top player who’s played very well this season, but Salah has more goals and considerably more assists than him. Salah doesn’t get picked because he’s not fashionable at the moment, like Kane.
