No chance

I wish there was. But greed is what greed does.No chance
No chance the rules are upheld. PIF have already spent vast sums at Newcastle and Chelsea.Don’t agree he’d be their main man and slot straight in. Guimeres(?) is their main man already plus Joeleton is a fixture in their midfield which leaves him fighting it out with Willock who’s been playing really well for them. Up front there’s Almorin plus Gordon on the right.
Because FFP rules are much stricter than they were when City were bought. Newcastle won’t be able to get away with the financial tricks City got up to and so far have got away with - they still may get their day of reckoning . The other “top 6” are t going to stand by and let Newcastle game the system like City did.
None of this is to say Newcastle won’t be a force to be reckoned with in the future but I don’t believe they are going to do a City.
Instead of chasing Maddison or even Sancho(?) how about getting Eze instead. He would be perfect as the right sided 8. We should have bought him from QPR 2 years ago for what would have been peanuts but now we should bite the bullet and splash the cash on him.
That’s the problem with our approach to lower league talent.I can certainly see Palace wanting over 50m for Eze. My guess would be 60-70m

we pass on the likes of Eze, olise because we feel like the risk isn’t worth it and we’ll be able to snap them up if they do succeed at this level because we are one of the big boys.
but in reality they quickly pass through our price range and now we can’t afford them.
For this reason, I really want us to sign Alex Scott
That's only part of the problem. That’s the problem with our approach to lower league talent.

Another problem is when they don't work out, some judge it as going down the cheap route. It's easy to interpret as us buying players for sell on value rather than to compete. That's only part of the problem.
The other part is fans who think these signings are beneath us and we should be signing bigger names, only to say two years later we should have signed them two years ago before they were too expensive.
Fans don't want project players, they want shiny new toys (not all fans BTW)
I cannot understand why we are not really trying hard to sign Alex Scott, he is probably one of the best young talents outside the PL. We need to have a little bit of foresight and gamble on these type of signings instead of losing out as proved by Eze and Olise and also initially on Maddison when he went from Coventry to Norwich. That’s the problem with our approach to lower league talent.

Not just Scott but Ronnie Edwards from Peterborough is another one and also our supposed interest in Thierry Small from Southampton. All good young english players.
You would have a good young group of players, Scott, Edwards, Small, Devine and Scarlett, all ready to come through.
Buying young players is always risky. We've tried this in the past with Bostock, Dean Parrett etc.I cannot understand why we are not really trying hard to sign Alex Scott, he is probably one of the best young talents outside the PL. My theory is it's because they don't cost peanuts any more. I'll be honest I've watched Scott a few times and I'd love him here, but I think you are talking upwards of £25mil for him. Big gamble for a player who has only played in the Championship.I suspect that perhaps if we're not persuing Scott it'll be due to the fact that we have Devine and playing Scott ahead of him, as Scott would be signed for the first team, won't particularly make Devine too happy.
Re Edwards, it could be that we have faith in Dorrington to come good, someome who I highly rate.
I wouldn't get your hopes up about Thierry Small, from what I've heard from Everton and Southampton fans he's not all that.
This is of course all speculation on my of course, just thinking out loud.
I also think at this stage he would either go to a side where he is going to be a first team player from the beginning, or go to a huge club where he can get a massive wage and develop. My theory is it's because they don't cost peanuts any more. He'd come here 100%.I also think at this stage he would either go to a side where he is going to be a first team player from the beginning, or go to a huge club where he can get a massive wage and develop.
I'm not sure we play him straight away and we're not big enough to spend such big money on potential.
I don't see how you can say that without knowing what other offers come in or what his thought process is in looking for his next move. He'd come here 100%.
