The last time I saw shithousery of that magnitude with the Bairstow dismissal that left me that disappointed was when Sadio Mane deliberately kicked the ball at Sissoko's outstretched arm.

Some will call it intelligent and within the laws of the game, and cleverly catching an opponent off guard which is correct, and by the letter of the law it was permitted and it reaped rewards for Australia and Liverpool and that's what the history books will say. Does it feel wrong and underhand ? Sure as hell it does.....
Agree it’s not in spirit of game. Bairstow should know though. Sad thing is we won’t do things like that because we won’t cheat

As an absolute cricket noob, I don’t get the fuss, he got stumped outside the area he should be in it, surely that’s okay?

it's not cheating. we might not like it, it's against the spirit of the game, but it's lawful and isn't cheating. if it wasn't lawful, the umpires wouldn't have given it.

And Potts in for Robinson.
Potts has been released, I think wood for Jimmy and go all seam. Hope woods fully fit, could be some chin music coming their way after today and wood is definitely a hell of a lot quicker than Jimmy, Broad and Robinson

Does that make it right?

If the shoe was on the other foot England would have done the same.
No, it wouldn’t have even crossed YJB’s mind as he wouldn’t have noticed the batsman walking out of his crease.
Even if he would have you can guarantee he’d have missed the stumps…..Foakes would be a different argument though!
Never has the phrase “it’s just not cricket” been so apt and it probably won them the game.

Very true.

Had Bairstow shown a scintilla of concentration it wouldn't have happened.

What the Aussies did was obviously in the laws of the game. If it was also classic shithousery, well so be it.

Tbf if you just go through this thread you will get multiple grown men in tears.

Against the spirit of the game but Bairstow is half asleep.
Bairstow was a numpty but in his defence every cricketer from Sunday to test level has always done what he did. I played until recently, Saturday and Sunday cricket and it’s just something you do, so I’m a bit loath to criticise him. It’s taking the rules to the extreme and what was the gentleman’s game to a different level. I’m at a loss to understand it all especially when there was a good chance they would win anyway, although Stokes with Johnny could have finished but we will never know. They’ve definitely poked the bear though and bring on Headingly

We see shothousery in football every week, why’s it an issue in cricket - I genuinly don’t get the issue with it tbh
