By "successor" I simply mean our new no.9. I agree that no-one we could sign could perform the exact same role as Kane.I don't think "Kane successor" is really a fair way to look at what his role is and is potentially going forward. A Kane successor doesn't exist as there isn't another player available (or that is alive) that can slot in and perform the role he's been playing in. It'll be a different role up front now and the Kane role will be gone entirely (possibly even if Kane stayed).
Of course anyone comparing Kane and Richarlison won't be impressed, but it's a false equivalence to even be trying to.
I actually think someone more in the mould of Firminho, who would maximise the goal output of the other attacking players (Maddison, Son & Kulu), could work really well. I can see Richarlison getting similar scoring stats to Firminho, but falling well short in terms of assists and link up play.
With Maddison added to the team, more of an out-and-out scorer who doesn't get too involved in the build-up play could also work well. I don't think Richarlison quite fits that role either though.
Realistically, Richarlison and Maddison could both have decent seasons by their standards and get no more goals & assists between them than Kane would have contributed alone. If Son & Kulusevski also have good seasons, perhaps our overall goal output can increase though, without signing anyone else to improve our starting XI.
