All the responsiblity is on Levy now.

Get it done quickly or else Kane is happy to stay (so if we sell end of window it's 100% Levy's fault and he can't claim Harry was pushing for it).
If he doesn't leave, Levy has to offer Kane a huge contract or he leaves on a free and that'd all be Levy's fault.

As others have said, a masterclass from Charlie Kane :p
It’s the 2024/25 Champions League final and Harry Kane‘s just scored the winner for Real Madrid against Bayern Munich, who could have had him if only they’d upped their offer in time. Instead Kane ended up going to Madrid on a free the following summer and the rest is history. The German media are about to have a field day at the expense of Bayern’s top brass.

I think this places as much pressure on BM as it does on Levy tbh.

The guy has come in and said if progress is made he will sign a new contract. It’s so simple. Sort the squad out, sell the shit, sign (at least one cb) and show some intent. We have one of the worlds best strikers willing to stay… if this was any other club they would have been ruthless and got rid of shit players and strengthened areas which needed. Why the fuck can’t spurs do the same. Golden opportunity to actually go for it.

If Levy fucks this up, then it’s all on him and I truly hope QSI or someone with deep pockets comes in and spends whatever is needed.

And comments like this prove what a masterclass this is from the Kane camp.

Most Spurs fans were already sympathetic towards Kane's reasons for leaving. Now if/when he leaves, he can even say he gave the club one last chance which it failed to take. From a PR perspective, Kane comes out of this superbly.

Hypothetically, if we brought in VDV and Tapsoba for £80m, made an extra £30m on selling other players leaving a perfectly realistic £100m net spend and then proceeding to get ourselves back in the CL playing good football, would Kane consider staying? It's an interesting one. I'd guess not but the chances would certainly be higher than they would be now.
As you say the chances of him staying would certainly be higher - that should be enough incentive for Levy to spend on cbs and adress the issues we have. We all know the style of play will be better but that doesn’t mean a thing if we’re shipping 3/4 every game.

So many been trying to convince themselves we'll be better without Kane and that he doesn't fit the system etc. wonder how easily they'll backtrack if he stays.

When did you become so bitter nicdic 😂

I personally don't think he is an Ange type player for his system, but would have him in the team if here. If he goes then we buy someone better suited (and also richarleson who I feel is more an Ange type player)

But imagine the noise when his name gets read out against United on the 19th if he stays.

One can be happy for Kane to stay and recognize that he doesn’t fit the profile Ange would normally prefer in his position. These things are not mutually exclusive.

I don’t know if it’s a PR move from Kane and his camp. I believe he wants what’s best for the club. He literally wants to stay if he sees improvement. Isn’t that what we all want? Just fix the squad so I can enjoy games and watch match of day!

I'm not buying into any of this and getting my hopes up, I'm still expecting Kane to move to Bayern this summer.

yeah theres no way a club legend like Kane or Hoddle could ever go to chelsea and be viewed the same way after :sneaky:
The rivalry between Spurs and Chelsea is a lot bigger now than it used to be. It's not like the days of Hoddle and Greaves at all. Our hatred of them really came about when the Russian bankrolled them and they became the biggest arseholes in the transfer window. I'm not sure why people have invented this fear of him to Chelsea from though.

Levy's not stupid enough not to understand that Kane would be more likely to stay if we signed better players. But that doesn't mean we will go out now and drop eighty mill on two new CBs. We have had years to sign new CBs.

How have you come to the conclusion that DM is a priority?
That wasn’t a conclusion but rather a potential requirement or upgrade given the formation and style we are looking to play. If we seriously think we can play like Celtic with 4 at the back and have 2 No8’s and a No6 in Bissouma or Hjojberg along with 2 attacking full backs we will be slaughtered by better well drilled teams of which there are many in the league. Skipp is not the solution and it will become patently obvious we need this type of player. Given the attacking nature of our players we will need a top quality one. Why do you think Arsenal or Liverpool invested in this area and became a lot more cohesive and effective.

Is Charlie still the one running things though? I thought Kane was working with someone else after the whole City thing. Didn't someone else help him repair some of the damage after that? I seem to recall something about Southgate recommending someone or something like that. This feels like another representative doing things this time around and Charlie taking more of a back seat. Unless he's actually learned from before.

Possibly I'm being a bit too cynical. I also hope it's true and we fix the squad asap, but I'm finding it difficult to believe that we will both keep Kane and sign the defenders we need to really progress. I hope I'm wrong and being overly pessimistic, but it feels like we've been here before.

Why does everyone assume this is Charlie Kane feeding this story to pressure Levy into selling now or spending? Tapsoba and VDV aren't going to convince Kane to stay. He wants CL football now, if he can. That's why he wants Bayern rather than taking his pick in 12 months.

It's far more likely the club have put this out to get Bayern to pay up quicker.

We're not buying a DM destroyer. Where on earth have you got that from? I don't see us buying a CM at all.
You think our defensive issues last season were just because of our centre backs and full backs? We were outplayed or by passed in midfield all too often last season and that was with 3 CB’s covering. Imagine how it will be with only 2 CB. If we don’t buy one this window I’m sure it will become a requirement in coming windows.

Do you think we have a top quality DM or that Ange will get us immediately playing football like City and Arsenal. Even they have top quality DM’s and invested heavily in that area.
