That's a fair call but it's pace to recover that Ange prioritises and Dier can't do that any more sadlyI'm pretty worried about their aerlial threat today and think he's the best counter to that. VDV I'm not sure of in that area and wouldn't start with the other debutants, Sanchez is very shy in the air, and Davies isn't great either and doesn't have experience as CB in a back four. The only other shout for me might have been Tanganga.
When was the last time we started a game without Hojbjerg? With Kane, Lloris gone, and Dier, PEH dropped, where's the leadership in this side? A new GK, a new defense, a new midfield, and a new attacking trio. In a tough away game. Hopefully there's enough space behind the sofa.
Son can play there if Richie stinks. Perisic can come in to cover the left. Many optionslove the lineup. no strikers on the bench though
You expected any different? The deal was only confirmed yesterday and it's our first game post Kane. It was always going to happen.
I think he lives in his own little conspiracy bubble. Are you doubting Sherlock Bubble07's theory?
Same mate. Most rounded exciting team since Peak poch and Redknapp sides.goal goal goals!
Utterly fascinated to see how this pans out - honestly haven't been as excited since Redknapp era.
(edit: Harry not Jamie)
Guess we should sack Ange then for failing to see this obvious flaw in his player assessmentHe'll be found out again when the season gets going. Not good enough.
Sorry but Tanganga would be last in my list of options to play CB. He was poor in preseason.I'm pretty worried about their aerlial threat today and think he's the best counter to that. VDV I'm not sure of in that area and wouldn't start with the other debutants, Sanchez is very shy in the air, and Davies isn't great either and doesn't have experience as CB in a back four. The only other shout for me might have been Tanganga.
Should be keeping Reggie not Davies.
Close to a loan deal I bet.Minor point as love the line up : no Scarlett on bench. Surprising.
The other point is that Ange's high-energy game plan will mean that it's extremely likely that the starting midfielders will be getting leggy in the final third of the match, just as they did on Tuesday. Sarr, Lo Celso will probably end up getting significant game time.Best option we have available currently. Especially for this game, being a tough away game, where his defensive quality should be preferred to Sarr’s better ability on the ball/attacking quality
Obviously it’s game one so anything could happen but it’s the first time since peak poch days that before a match I look at our team and the way we will approach the game and have that kind of arrogance confident feeling that if we play well not only could we win we could absolutely dominate and suffocate and batter the opposition.Like that line up a lot
Could always put Son in the middle and Perisic on the left if need be.would have loved to see Perisic fit in somewhere. too bad you can't play 12
