Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou has identified Brentford captain Christian Norgaard as a January target. Norgaard, who took over the armband from Pontus Jansson at the beginning of the season, is wanted by Spurs to beef up competition in the midfield as they push towards a title challenge that the North London club hasn't been involved in since the 2015/16 season.

The irony being midfield is the place we least need to beef up competition
Bissouma and Sarr will be at AFCON, leaving just Bentancur who is up to the level we need, assuming he gets up to speed by then without further set backs. PEH and Skipp can do a job but ultimately they don't fit Ange's style of play.

Whether we target a 29 year old stop gap I'm not sure. A CB has to be a priority though.

We're not likely to buy players just to cover us just for a month but I can see us going in for the loans. Regardless I think a midfield of Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Skipp, Maddison and Lo Celso is good enough to keep us ticking over unless we let one/some of them go.

I don't think we need someone, but I eventually I reckon we'd like a 4th midfielder who doesn't lead to a drop in quality/style. If that player was available in January then it makes sense to get them in. We'd probably have to get rid of someone though as it's all getting a bit bloated as you say

I agree (if we had European football) but unless we get a young starlet willing to bide his time and learn the. I don't think we'll find someone of the quality you're expecting because they won't want to spend the rest.of the season on the bench.

If we were to get anyone from Brentford, Rico Henry would be my choice. As usual, we're in limbo waiting to see is Sessegnon will ever get fit.

I don’t know anything about either of these players.

If they’re at the quality we want, why would they sell mid season?
