Players like Edwards are the reason I fell in love with the game.

I don't know about his off the pitch attitude stuff which has been alluded to.

All I know is I've always loved watching him play football since he was 16 in the youth team.

Not many better two way dribblers in tight spaces than him.

He now looks physically ready for the PL.

I'm not against Johnson but I'd take him over Johnson.

In terms of balanced squad building - profiles, roles, club / association trained - it would make sense to buy both.

GLC, Peresic will leave over this year or next.

Son at 9 until we find our striker and we're good to go.

Edwards is 1.68m, and Kyogo at Celtic is 1.70m, maybe if he's a CF we would fit our system well, as we are passing the ball into the box on the ground more. His ball control is excellent. Would like to see him back.

Surely we won’t sign him AND Johnson? It’d be 1 or the other you’d think? Also, doesn’t he has discipline issues!?

Maybe we’re using him as a bargaining chip to drive down the price of Johnson, or that we plan to sign a CB, ST & LW but ideally, 2 would be homegrown so it just allows us to adjust our plan accordingly.

I wonder if it would have anything to do with Gil's situation, but still think it'd be a stretch. As I just mentioned in another thread, we saw a decent amount of ITK yesterday mentioning HG links and the plan there to get ahead of a potential problem for Europe next season.

His stats/data show he would be a really good player in Ange's system. I could see him on the wing or as a CF, he certainly featured there for Sporting a few times.

According to Transfermarkt:
RW - 145 matches - 60 G/A
AM - 20 matches - 15 G/A
Left Winger - 15matches - 6 G/A
CF - 11 matches - 7 G/A

Another player with a history of attitude problems. You can tell by his mannerisms he still has a cocky attitude.

If Ndombele and Spence (rumors) are anything to go by, I’d avoid.

The ego players don’t seem to make it here.

If I remember correctly, with signing Porro we waived all/part of our sell on fee for Edwards.
I won't believe Levy would go for him 7 months after doing that.

all we need now is some positive ITK in this thread and that's my plans for the week out of the window.

All joking aside, Ange did have Celtic keeping the ball low and definitely not lumping crosses into the box. Whether that was dictated by the players at his disposal or if it was his preference isn't really clear, but he did find plenty of ways to score goals with small players.

Crucial point is that the HG problem is also a Club trained problem. More so without Kane.

In Europe you can have 17 Foreign + 4 HG + 4 Club trained.

If you've Zero Club trained players, all you can have is 17 Foreign + 4 HG i.e. max 21 players.

Next year we'll probably have Austin / Whiteman / Gunter + Skipp as our only 2 club trained players.

We also seem to want another 6 or 8 which may push out Skipp. Or need another Foreign space.

We desperately need Club trained players for Europe until a couple of Devine, Dorrington, Donley etc hopefully break through.

The only feasible options we could bring back are Edwards, Cirkin, Walker-Peters, and Carter-Vickers.

I'd go for Edwards and Cirkin all day long.

He's physically quite small, so cannot see him at CF at all. Quite similiar to Solomon. Pretty much played out wide, very well, for Sporting. Would be a direct rotation with Deki for us.
His strengths (great technical player in possession, fast, able to beat a man, goal threat) look to fit Ange's style really well.

I don’t think it’s particularly sensible for Edwards to come back to London tbh. He’s resurrected his chances of having a good career by going to a part of the world where he can focus on his football. He should stay there a few more years and try to reach that next level (in ability and professionalism) before thinking about coming back
