I have to say it makes a huge difference to me when Son is central, I don't know if I'd prefer a single player through 1v1 with the keeper over the last 5 years than Son in world football. For some reason, Conte didn't want that to happen. However 1v1 vs a defender, Son struggles. So when we're playing Son - Richarlison - Kulusevki, it's hard not to think about Kane missing but when you play Son, central, it just feels like a completely different approach given his style. Suddenly it becomes: Solomon/Richarlison fighting for one spot, Son central and Kulusevki/Johnson fighting for the other spot.

Those little switcheroo's make all the difference to the complexion of the front line. Don't get me wrong, if we finish 2nd, I'll still be saying, if only we kept Kane, but I feel our frontline options look far greater with this switch.

Are you suggesting that on the managerial front he only gets 1/3 important decisions right?

I think at his next performance review we may need to have a difficult decision.

What's the equivalent of moving him off the checkout and putting him on stocking frozen foods instead.?
That is one way of interpreting what I said yes. . .

I think Levy has made plenty of mistakes over the last few years, but he's also made some decent decisions too and I try to be balanced.

To be honest I don’t want Son or Richarlison out wide

Son/Richie up top
Manor/Perisic LW
kulu/Johnson RW

is the way forward for me

Ange is the only manager in so many years who makes a team selection that is very similar to what we want to see.

It seems that he is aligned to us fans. The lineup that he picks is as if he has read the forums and made his selections based on what he reads.

So different from our previous managers, where we kept on questioning why so and so was still being selected despite playing badly.

TFW you forgot some coaches actually, you know, coach players instead of just buying the most expensive one they can in each position.

By the sounds of it that’s what he’s had planned and it works. Explains why he pushed so hard for another winger and perhaps Fati.
I thought Son was excellent towards the end of last season when he seemed to play more centrally and long may that continue. He’s still quicker than most up front and is such a good finisher. Could easily get 20-25 premiership goals again.

Let's just hope he doesn't go too far and react to some of the posts in the match day threads

I think this is right but also suspect we will still see some games where richy starts up front snd son reverts to LW rather than being benched.

son also did well as ST during some of kanes injury spells under poch so definitely think he had it in him

So so true!

Also just shows maybe we do all know what we are talking about 😊😉

Loving everything about the way he has gone about things since he arrived so far. So upfront, no beating around the bush and comes across so well and doesn't go overboard. In terms of the football it's been brilliant to watch so far and yes there will be tougher tests and bumps along the way but it appears so clear what he wants from afar that the players working with him will be left in no doubt.

Like the way he quickly seems to have identified the players that he feels will work in his system and the ones who don't been moved to the bench or like Dier been completely frozen out. Doesn't care if they are senior pro's, nice guys or were part of the leadership group last season etc....makes the decision based on the football on the pitch first and foremost....brilliant to see.

He is totally spot on with the quote below:

“You can’t keep doing everything the same and expect a different outcome. It’s pretty obvious. I’ve always done that wherever I’ve done. Unless I change things, personnel or staff, or manner of playing, then what am I doing? I’m definitely not that arrogant to think that just me walking in is going to give us success.”

Postecoglou added: “You have to actually make meaningful change. That’s what the club wanted. By appointing me, I presume they wanted to go in a different direction. Then it’s about making those decisions that institute change. Does it bring more out of people?”

They're the old guard at this stage. The game has changed and they haven't moved with the times. They were the very best at one stage or another tho.
They were wrong for us and there is definitely a younger generation of managers who are playing great football while getting good results, but Mourinho has done a pretty decent job at Roma since leaving us.
