Cristian Romero got a Player of the Month nomination today, why is his and Micky van de Ven's partnership working so well? Do their differences complement each other?

"No, I think it's just down to the players themselves. Cuti I 'm sure was disappointed with the way his club football went last year, but he also ended up winning the World Cup. Since I've been here I just think he's an outstanding defender.

He's a real strong personality and he has a real winner's mindset in everything he does. For us, I think there's great growth in our front third but I think the way the defensive side of our game has come together, when you consider Vicario has just joined the club, Micky has just joined the club, Destiny has just come across in his first year and Pedro in his second year but probably first year playing in that position.

I think the one constant and the rock in there has been Romero with the way he has taken on the responsibility of guiding the other guys around him so they look assured. I think they feel security having him beside them. I think he's a big part of why we've done so well defensively. Again there is more to come from him. He wants to improve. He works so hard every day. You need it, he's a winner and I can see that in him with the way he trains, the way it plays so it helps from a cultural perspective as well."

This guy is just so polarising. Love him one second and loathe him the next.

I wonder what sort of player he would be if you took the aggression out of him.

Lost his head when he got shoved in the back.

Disappointing considering what he's done so far this season.

What he does show though is that we need a top level RCB in January without a doubt. He is too much of a liability so we need a top level player who can rotate with him.

Can’t believe that wasn’t given as a foul. Romero’s reaction to it has cost us this game though. He’s a complete bellend.

He's just one of those like Ramos who will have those moments but Ramos was one of the best. I didn't think it was as bad at real speed though. He's just gone in with full force and got the ball but the downside to that is the momentum is always going to put the opponent at risk. Looks way worse slowed down honestly but probably the right decision given the impact of the studs following through. You need to put the top of the boot through those ones.

It’s a red everyday and he probably should have been sent off for the kick out. He has these unbelievable poor decisions multiple times a year, usually in big games. He has cost the team mightily tonight. We had this game fully under control.

He could have won the ball without the follow through. If he hasn't learnt by now , will he ever?

I don't think you get the Romero of the rest of the season so far, without this hot headedness. It's just who the man is. Gutted that he lost it in this game in particular.

We need a 3rd starting calibre CB in the squad. Always did if we want to challenge eventually but will need it sooner than later to deal with the suspensions for Cuti which will be ever-present.

Just the player he is. Live with it and compensate.

This is who he is and it’s what makes him good and it’s what makes him difficult. But he badly let us down.

Shame he let his team down. We were battering them until his utter stupidity. That red has probably changed the overall outlook of this season.
